    payet is not the first and won't be the last. pampered multi millionaire who thinks his station in life as someone who kicks a ball around a field for 90 mins a week somehow makes him entitled to act like a complete prat to get whatever it is he wants and when he wants it. I've heard he's 'homesick'…his wife can't settle….its all crap. some people are stranded a world away from their loved ones working 24/7 just to stay afloat. payet as ashes said on the main thread is an hour flight away and can afford a private jet there and back ffs. he has more spare time than a retired person. as for his wife's side of the story…its utterly pathetic. we had the same with behrami. these wives live in unlimited luxury. you mean to tell me she can't settle wherever her husband is for two or three years even if she can fly home anytime she wants? they all must think we are utter fools who will believe that their precious lifestyle needs are anything other than whinging, childish, unprofessional and selfish. men work on oil rigs for months at at time, truck drivers are away from home constantly….do they have hissy fits with their bosses ? no of course not as they can't and even if they could they appreciate the fact they have a job. i say that clubs around the world should put an end to it by putting clauses in their contracts that say any player refusing to play, making excuses that are not in line with what the club accepts, and any player trying to instigate his own transfer out of a club when under contract should face severe punishment i.e. huge fines and being banned from playing in the first team. as it is now payet is laughing all the way to the bank knowing he still cashes his cheques of 120,00 a week and doesnt need to lift a finger. well i;ll lift a finger….right here…up yours mate.

    Only a couple of games ago and Slaven Bilic was reportedly (by the media) under immense pressure regards his position as Hammers boss and had matches v Palace and Boro to save his job. Well a convincing 3-0 home win v Palace and 3-1 away victory over Boro now sees The Hammers in 10th place (on goal difference) on 28 points currently 12 pts above the bottom 3 surely should dispel any thoughts that The Croatian's position is under threat. The last two performances though a tad disjointed have produced a rejuvenated West Ham with renewed belief certainly look more settled and seem to have a willingness not only to work for each other but for their manager. I hope Slav get's the credit he deserves.

  • Wham Bamm Fonte Man! Hammers Sign Saints Captain

    West Ham United have signed Southampton captain Jose Fonte for £8m on a two and a half year deal, the 33 year old Portugal centre back who spent seven years at Southampton made a transfer request with 18 months left to run on his current Saints deal, to some west ham fans this may seem an extortionate amount of money to pay for a player who is well past his sell by date, but those in the know seem to think differently. The transfer includes a possible £1m in add ons and gives Fonte the option to extend his contract for a further year. Southampton's director of football Les Reed said Fonte had the chance to sign an improved deal but requested a move, Fonte, a Euro 2016 winner, said Slaven Bilic was "a very big influence" in convincing him to choose the Hammers ahead of other clubs. "I thought that he really wanted me and that he sold me the project and the ambition of the club." Fonte's arrival probably signifies James Collins' departure to link up with former Hammer James Tomkins and former Hammer's manager Sam Allarydce at London rivals Crystal Palace.
    West Ham's leaky defence has been an unwelcome aspect to this unedifying season, and without wanting to disrespect 'the ginger pele', every time he receives the ball he is an accident waiting to happen, but as a defensive header of the ball he is imperious, unfortunately in possession of the ball he launches dangerous and miss placed passes with apparent abandon and as such does need to be replaced with a more mobile and cerebral player, albeit of the same age.
    Anyone who has witnessed the frailty of what was last season's stoic defence, particularly at home, will understand the need for change, and whilst it might be emotional , it is a very practical and pragmatic view that has been adopted by Slaven Billic and should be thoroughly endorsed.- Ed

    when it comes to the transfer market... we are in dire need of a top class R/B but we have dithered on that all season we sell Tomkins to palace for ten million keep ginge in the twilight of his career now on the verge of signing fonte for eight million who is 33 a good player but we have oxford/burke who both could of done with a run in the team now we are out of the cups but are either loaned or on the bench....it just mystifies me somewhat as to how such deals are done....a lot more work needs to be done in this area of the club as there seems to be no direction or thought into what we actually require.

  • Payet Offered 'Insane' Deal

    Ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has upped the stakes in the Dimitri Payet transfer saga enormously by arranging for the Chinese super league club Hebei China Fortune that he now manages to offer Payet an 'insane' deal. The terms of which are off the scale, £500,000 per week on a three year deal! That equates to over £75 Million, and will be a test for his home sickness, it will also be a test for other parties involved, particularly Payet's agent and also West Ham's hierarchy. Imagine how Jacques-Olivier Auguste, Payet's agent, feels at the moment? His client apparently wants a move back to Marseille that might generate between £20-30 Million, but on reduced wages! Sacre bleue, Auguste could miss out on at least £15 Million over three years, that is 'pogba-esque' in agents fees! So does he do as his client says, or does he do what he wants his client to be saying once he has clearly outlined the consequences to him? Then there is the West Ham United hierarchy, to say there collective noses have been put out of joint by Payet's refusal to play for the club in order to force through a transfer would be an understatement. Anger, sadness, remorse, loss, fury and bewilderment must be high on their agenda, could they have seen this coming and if so could they have done anything differently? Irrespective of the fact that 'marquee' signings did not arrive, it is hard to blame the board and the manger for broken promises, sometimes things just don't work out the way they were planned. Perhaps on reflection Dimitri Payet was over indulged by the club, and shown too much favour, but if there is blame to lay it has to be with the player himself. Slaven Billic may have been slightly naive in building his team around Payet, he would have anticipated that the player's head could be turned, especially given his World Cup performances for France, but the West Ham manager would have been thinking OK next summer his mercurial frenchman might be on his way, but Billic would never have envisaged Payet's "I'm on strike" stance to happen so quickly, although with hindsight, which is a wonderful thing to have retrospectively, Payet's body language and general malaise was clearly there for all to see, his performances representing merely a cameo of the player he was twelve months ago.
    If West Ham had sold Payet at the beginning of the season they might have got big bucks for him, but there would have been uproar from the fans, total pandemonium, vitriol and bile would have been hurled in the direction of 'the money grabbing porn kings' or words to that effect, and everyone and his dog would be saying "told you so!". West Ham United are not rich enough to 'park' Payet for six months, their initial 'he is not for sale' stance was admirable, but also very school boy, Payet will go, it is just a question for how much? and you can guarantee that West Ham will hold out for the very best amount they can get!
    Essentially the board and the manager are jammed between a rock and a hard place, dealing with a situation not of their making, but at least they didn't instigate the transfer request themselves, or did they? - Ed

    Apparently we are rated 18 in the richest clubs in the world, and that is before our move to the London stadium. So my question is, shouldn't we as a club be entitled to have the 18th best team, instead of clutching at old boys Defoe and fonte or continued bids for punt signings? Personally I feel I'm entitled to have a proven rb and striker in under 30 years of age.
