    A few things in one thread, apologies but don't have as much time these days.
    Firstly just a point about the "New Stadium", for me this has now become a red herring for our crap performances, A nice easy fall back. We didn't take the "New Stadium" to West Brom did we? We still managed to get tonked by a crap Pulis side. We played the same there a couple of seasons ago under the corrupt one and had 4 put past us then. It's not the pitch, everyone else is scoring goals there even crap Romanian teams. I heard on the radio after travelling back on Sunday, some geezer called Jethro from Torquay, and a Liverpool fan! Criticising us that we got too big for our boots and the atmosphere at the OS is rubbish. When asked had he been there he replied no. End of discussion. So if you are going to harp on about the OS and blame it, at least get off your arse go there and then tell us what you heard, experienced etc.. It's not the stadium, it's not the fans standing or sitting, it's the players. You know the ones that kick the f'ing ball!!! We've been made to feel by outside forces and I have to say a lot of the armchairs on here, that we are somehow part of the problem. Like we aren't doing our job properly, by not creating the right atmosphere. Let alone the fact we have to pay ,make the journey to and fro and watch our team get demolished by mediocre opposition, we have to keep singing our hearts out? Oh and we can't leave early, coz proper fans don't do that. We have to stay till the end, for what? I've left early nearly every game this season, which I've never done in 35 years of supporting home and away. The reason? The team leaves the game after about 30 mins so why shouldn't I go home early too? I've got to get home with my son, on public transport, they jump in their flash motors parked in the ground and are home in about 20 mins.,
    Secondly, the solution, the worst thing and most worrying is I don't think anyone knows what that is. Oxford apparently is this super defender sitting on the bench, top teams allegedly want him. Says who? His agent?. Well I saw him taken apart at UP last season and against Donzale, he made a few mistakes that would have been punished in the Prem. Byram has been found out against canny attackers like Ighalo. Obiang is just another average midfielder IMPO. Fletcher is seen as a hope because he adds a spark, but can he mentally handle the pressure of our struggle at the moment from the start? I suppose we will only know if he plays. I just don't see the players on the bench making a difference. I also see players on the pitch that aren't up for it. Payet, Kouyate and Reid especially. Whether they've got complacent, wanted a move away, I don't know. They look disinterested. Its' so bad that I'm getting embarrassed at the "we've got Payet" song. Last season feels like a long time ago now. Worse still I'm counting the days the great white hope Carroll comes back for about four or five games and gets injured again, or the wrong-un Sakho plays. I'm totally pinning my hope on the belief that they will change things, and I'm probably wrong. I'm dreading going on Saturday, another half a day of mine and my son's life wasted on those w*nkers. Not since the corrupt one have I dreaded going to West Ham so much.
    Lastly if we got rid of Bilic as some have said already on here, what's going to change? Look at Chelsea they've still got the same problems under Conte as they had under Mourinho. Both managers we'd have given our right arm for BTW. Bilic can be criticised for picking round pegs in square hoes, but he works with these players every day and must know their mental state better than we do. If he thinks Kouyate isn't a centre back but a central midfielder and we accept that, then surely, we accept his obvious judgement that Oxford isn't up to it or ready? If they don't want to play for the club and it's fans, get rid I say. I'd rather go down and start agin than be embarrassed week in week out. Our claret and blue colours aren not the only similarity with Villa from last season. We would get rid of the tourists and build again. So I'm resigned to defeat already, so early and am looking at the next three games as make or break.

  • Bruce Being Lined Up As Billic Successor?

    West Ham United co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are renowned for the loyalty they show to their managers, some would say too loyal, and so it comes as no surprise that they have released a 'statement' to disaffected fans with regards to the club's current dire situation NOT blaming Slaven Billic, the communique went on to highlight injuries and poor decisions as a reason for the disastrous start to the season which has seen a return of only three points from six games, relegation form to anyone not viewing the situation with claret & blue spectacles on!
    Despite showing commendable loyalty to their manager, an aspect of the modern game that is now becoming extinct given the fiscal demands that are part and parcel of being in the Barclays Premier League, the Hammers hierarchy have subtly been in touch with ex - Hull City manager Steve Bruce who they know well from when he managed Birmingham City whilst the club was under their ownership. Bruce, who resigned from being the manager of Hull due to the lack of investment in the team, had hinted that he was ready to 'hang up his boots' in order to spent more 'quality time' with his family, however the opportunity to manage West Ham United is the sort of option that would "get my juices going" and would reunite him with some 'old faces', sometimes it is better the devil you know than the devil you don't!
    In the short term nothing radical is planned, but like all astute business people, those in control at West Ham United have to have a contingency plan in place should the current sequence of poor results continue unabated. The move to the London Stadium was always going to be difficult, but it seems the magnitude of the change had not been fully anticipated, especially the width of the pitch. The extra metreage is what opposing teams are exploiting when they visit, hitting teams on the break is what West Ham perfected last season, so it is rather ironic that the club has now fallen victim to what was once their successful template.
    Of course any team devoid of Andy Carroll, Andre Agnew and Diafra Sakho would find scoring goals challenging and the hope is when the trio have returned things will start looking up, add the returning Aaron Cresswell when he has reached fitness and the future could and should be rosy, the only problem is the negative mind set that has crept insidiously throughout the team. Slaven Billic may have to make a few harsh decisions with regards to his team selections in the next few matches, there are certain players who need to be dropped, they know who they are, but does Slaven? Talk of his dismissal is a bit premature, but at the end of the day football is a results driven business, and the current poor run of results are unsustainable, something has to happen and quickly otherwise Slaven Billic will become the first managerial casualty from this season's top flight. - Ed

  • time for a change?

    bilic seems intent for whatever reason for us not to use the counter attack that we did last season. with this in mind and the current failings of our current setup. what suggestions would you make concerning formation and line up? personally i think we should sacrifice some width and put three in the middle and use payet as a play maker behind a front two. without carroll in the side its a bit pointless to get wide and whip in a cross anyway. payet could float around looking for space and also making runs into the box. my problem is the front two…we look weak there. but it would have to be Zaza and fletcher. so for me its a 4-3-1-2. Adrian, Arbeloa, Ogbonna, Reid, Byram - Noble, Obiang, Lanzini- Payet- Fletcher, Zaza. Will Bilic look for a change? doubt it.

    This season has gone from bad to worse, I am still disappointed that we let Tomkins go he could have filled the RB berth as I thought he did reasonably well there last season when called upon. Nordvelt is not a Right-back he is a central midfielder, Zaza is utter tosh. Today (and for the next few games) I would have had Antonio at RB until Cress gets back and Arbs could slot back in. Payet and Lanzini had an off day and we left far too many gaps. Nobes is not getting forward like he did last season and the midfield is looking forlorn and all too often going AWOL. Our strikers (?) are playing with backs to goal and only late on did they get some support. I love West Ham United but we don't seem to have heart at the moment.
    We Have players that other clubs would love on their books .. Payet, Oxford, Lanzini, Antonio, Feghouli..... and on paper we look strong then boom they come onto the pitch and it goes belly up... time to roll up the sleeves and show some fighting spirit! This scenario is heartbreaking and right now we are looking a very poor side.

  • Oxford To Play, Hopefully For More Than A40 Minute Cameo

    Having trained with the senior squad all week West Ham starlet Reece Oxford, much coveted by Mourinho at Manchester United, Guardiola at Manchester City and not forgetting Conte at Chelsea, seems set to start the televised crunch match against Southampton at the London Stadium on Sunday. A big stadium needs big players to fill it out and make it intimidating for visiting teams, Oxford is a big time player, he may be young, but he has the aura of impending greatness! Of course it could all go wrong for the 17 year old England player, football is littered with players of great potential who have fallen by the way side, but young Reece has a certain charisma that raises him head and shoulders over most youngsters, that and a maturity that belies his age, Slaven Billic was brave enough to use him for the memorable away win over Arsenal at the Emirates last season, and it appears he has decided to stop 'wrapping oxford up in cotton wool' and unleash him in to the Barclays Premier League with all the piranha's and pitfalls he was trying to protect him from. Needs must, and West Ham need inspiration at the moment, and what better way than to bring 'one of our own' in to the fold? If he gets monstered by the opposition forwards he will learn, and to be honest he can't do much worse than those who have been playing recently! - Ed

  • Masuaku Injured In Jinxed Position For West Ham

    Authur Masuaku has joined the legion of recent West Ham United signings to pick up a nasty injury and heap added pressure on an already under fire Slaven Billic. Billic, who celebrated the arrival of his daughter who was born on Tuesday evening, will be cursing his footballing luck as he faces up to ANOTHER left back with ligament damage! Masuaku, apart from the West Brom penalty, has performed admirably since his arrival to replace the injured Aaron Cresswell, but his mid to long term absence (6-8 weeks) is a very unwelcome scenario, especially given the players who have been loaned out who might have provided cover. Cresswell has begun running, but is way short of being available, with the first week of November being the earliest possible date set for a return. Sam Byram could be used, he has played as left back for the team before, but his defensive frailty already exposed as a right back may be amplified playing in an unfamiliar role.
    These are difficult times for Slaven and his team, even more reason for West Ham Fans to get fully behind the team on Sunday for the match against Southampton at the (newly segregated) London Stadium. - Ed

    a win is a win. its over and we're through. chelsea next, so we all know we have got to start improving fast. yesterday i was surprised, very surprised to see oxford and fletcher on the bench. if oxford isn't fancied to start this one i don't know what game he will. in my view calleri is being played over fletcher simply because he came 'from argentina' an bilic feels he has to give him a chance. In my view calleri isn't good enough and fletcher should be ahead of him in the pecking order. i also don't understand this need for us to use randolph. our defence is pants at the moment so at least keeping adrian in there adds some stability but this new phenomenon of switching goal keepers for tournaments is upon us and in my opinion its ridiculous. a back up keeper is just that and has to wait his turn. you can't tell me now that the goal keeper plays 'too much football' too? all this said, we got the goal in the end and hopefully the win gives the team a lift. however the test is to come at the weekend to see what if anything has improved.
