Every cloud has a silver lining, so the expression goes, and thirteen is supposed to be unlucky, so it must have been with great trepidation that Sam Byram, who had just completed his move from Leeds United, took to the stage at the Boleyn yesterday on the thirteenth minute to replace Arsenal loanee Carl Jenkinson in the enthralling 2 - 2 draw against Manchester City. Byram was not supposed to even be at the club, yet alone making his debut in such a high profile match, originally the club weren't even going to buy him until the summer.

One Point Gained, Or Two Points Lost? Is This The End?

An enthralling match at the Boleyn ended with Chek Kayoute clipping the bar as West Ham nearly did the double over Champions elect Manchester City, in all honesty a draw was probably a fair result, but yet again Slaven Billic managed to guide his side to a creditable if not totally satisfying draw. In a way it is a testament to how far Hammers have progressed that there is a feeling of discontent among fans that this game did not end up with three points in the bag!

West Ham make the top 20 of Deloitte's Football Money League 2014/15 for the first time since 2005-06 with revenues of 160.9m euro (£122.4m), more than Turkey's top club, Galatasaray. Not since the 'phoney money' of the Icelandic biscuit barons have West Ham United had such revenue streams running through the club, of course the 'streams' from iceland were in fact volcanic based debt, whereas now, under the ownership of the two Davids, Sullivan and Gold, six years into their tenure, are healthy and well founded.
