Onana Numbers Mind Numbing!

According to a raft of media sources including the BBC, West Ham have had a bid of between £28-40 Million depending on which source you care to use accepted by Lille for Amadou Onana.

The numbers involved in the deal for the 6'5" 20 year old midfielder are staggering for several reasons, so let's extrapolate the details. As recently as the end of May of this year Onana was valued at around £9 Million by Transfer market and listed as earning as little as £5,500 per week.

Fast forward ONLY 8 WEEKS and suddenly Hammers have offered a staggering 400% increase on his valuation to Lille which unsurprisingly they accepted for a player that they signed just under a year ago for around £6 Million from Hamburger SV, Lille will NET a profit of anywhere between £22-34 Million!

Apart from the massive mark up Lille will receive, it was initially thought that wages wouldn't be a problem due to the fact that Onana was rumoured to be on ONLY £5,000n per week, though that has since been dismissed as rubbish by a Lille insider who claimed Onana was paid £15,000 per week, triple the money but still chicken feed!

So news that the deal is being held up because of the player's wage demands must have hit Moyes and Co like a bullet. How much are his agency demanding? Apparently it is so much that it doesn't fit within the club's current wages structure, so reading between the lines it seems as if Onana's agent is asking for in excess of £120,000 per week!

Amadou Onana currently earns £5,500 per week, that's £286,000 per year playing for Lille, the 19 year old was born in Belgium and his current contract expires June 30, 2026 so Lille hold all the aces from a transfer point of view, with the exception that they are totally BROKE and desperately need to sell Onana to balance their books despite winning Ligue 1 the season before last.

The numbers involved in the transfer from Lille to West Ham for Onana are mind numbing, especially if you work for West Ham, it is an enormous investment in such a young player for the club and beggars the question if perhaps the club have gone so far down the road they don't want to back out for fear of failure in closing the deal, it is well known that PSG among others have been monitoring Onana's situation but that shouldn't force Moyes's hand.

We would suggest that there are some occasions when you just have to walk away from a deal, no matter how much effort has been expended, Hammers CANNOT and hopefully will not let themselves get 'seduced' into auction battles with Europe's top clubs, the East Londoners simply cannot compete.

Sometimes i get really peed off with our club and how they act and today is one of those days.......week or so back rumours were the Gooners wanted Bowen...just rumours and he's not for sale anyway and today for no reason whatsoever we find the club have put a price tag of £75million on his head to deter clubs from making an approach.....why? by putting a price on his head you basically saying yeah he is available if you have the money and yet again we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Now whilst not naive and every player has there price what kind of message does this send out to others at the club especially to Rice.....they want to keep him they want to challenge for champions league place they want to build a team around him well if you start selling our best players or price tagging them it is never going to happen in my lifetime or any of the younger fans of the clubs lifetime ever.

Again big club big stadium we can compete with the big boys ha! do me a favour we are what we always will be a decent football club that will upset the applecart every now and then and once the goings good we cash in on our players...Rio/Fatboy/Joe cole/Johnson/Macavennie/TC......nothing will ever change...Rice will go Bowen will follow Scamacca if he hits the ground running as well.

So just one question what will the club say if the barcodes come in with the £75million what then eh? mug ourselves off all the time its bloody annoying.....a simple he is not for sale at any price should be the answer an England international an outstanding talent and we just hang a price tag on to deter others lol....ok rant over just get really annoyed with how we do things at times...and dont get me started on a loan deal for Cornet ffs if you want him buy him its £17.5 million not £70million ffs.

Move on for goodness sake

Kostic is not interested in joining us but Moyes still hopes to change his mind by as is rumoured offering him a major hike on what he is currently earning mmmm has he not learned from Lingard farce a player coming just for the money is not a player any club really needs is it.

So if Moyes wakes up and smells the roses he now begrudginly moves on to his next target Cornet from Burnley which will please a certain mr 65 oh yes i keep my eye on you boys and see that you do not get over excited:-)but anyhoo this player has a 17.5million release clause in his contract by todays standards chicken feed and yet we go in and ask to loan him not a low ball offer even nope a loan you have to laugh.

sell out crowds europe a stadium we moved to to compete with the big boys but for us big boys is Forest Brighton Palace and co.Traore available for £10million Cornet for £17.5 million two players prem experienced cost under £30million and the certainly wont be on wages akin to Yarmalenko or what we would of paid Lingard,Our squad would be better our bench stronger but unfortunately for us Moyes does take to long to make a decision.

as the saying goes "you dont always get what you want" but to keep hitting your head repeatedly against a brickwall seems something our manager is happy to keep doing.

Well done the lionesses

For better or for worse?

With 7 days remaining until the start of the season. Are we in a better position as a team/squad or worse position than when the season ended in May?
To date we have added 3 new additions to last season. Not including Areola. Defensively we are surely worse off. Though we added Aguerd he is a non runner. The left back position is a massive problem. We lost 2 in midfield and added 1. Yes we added a much needed striker. We have got no natural cover for Bowen with Yarma going. For me we need major input asap and quality to boot.

Fabs or Areola?....i have to say great servant that he has been to our club i do not feel as safe with the ball coming into the area as i once did with Fab....he dropped a few clangers last season his kicking not the best either so i think a role reversal is best here let Fab have the cups and europe and make Areola our GK for the prem.
