Who Should Play Next To Zouma For Wolves-Vote Now-No Sign In!

Saturday's trip to Wolves will be a seminal game for David Moyes, Molineaux is never a good place to get a result, under Bruno Lage Wolves have consolidated and are now on an upward curve playing some decent football in the process. Part of Hammers recent success has been based on being able to name an unchanged starting line up, that of course will not be possible this weekend due to Angelo Ogbonna's injury.

So who does David Moyes bring in as Ogbonna's replacement, Craig Dawson or Issa Diop? Moyes is known to be a cautious type and may select Dawson on the basis that he was a regular starter until he was replaced by new signing Kurt Zouma.

Vote on our Poll opposite to select who you think should start, you DON'T need to be a registered member or to be logged in to vote.

Both Dawson and Diop have their plus points, but they both have areas of their game that need improvement and will struggle to fill Ogbonna's boots. Dawson has a tendency to commit fouls in dangerous areas and lacks pace, whereas Diop has all the pace in the World, but lacks judgement on crucial decisions.

If this were a purely academic situation then Diop would be the obvious choice, he is a superb athlete and possesses good footballing skills, he DOES make errors, but then it is easy to forget how young he is due to his impressive 6'4" frame. We believe that if he plays more games he will get better and better, the problem is the Premier League is an unforgiving environment where errors are invariably punished.

Dawson is an out and out old school centre back who rarely ventures forward successfully, except when it comes to dead ball situations when he suddenly becomes an aerial beast, ironically fans have been heard saying he MUST be brought on in games where Hammers are up against a resolute defence, JUST because he is so good at corners and free kicks.

Both Dawson and Diop are decent replacements for Ogbonna, the are not perfect but they could be a lot worse and will have to get on with it. Moyes will probably elect to play Dawson, but with 'Les's' selection comes the caveat that he could get 'shredded' by Traore, to be fair most players would, but we feel Diop is better equipped to deal with Traore's speed and physicality.

Moyes will be only too aware of the threat Traore represents, the Iron's manager and his staff will have measured up the pro's and con's of both players and come to their collective decision Of course Moyes could throw a curve ball by selecting Jamal Baptiste instead! - Ed

Two Away Games And Then Dec Hell Begins

Following the international break, West Ham pick up their domestic campaign with the away fixture against Wolves on Saturday followed by an away fixture against League Champions Manchester City the next Sunday. Sandwiched between those games is the away UEAFA Europa League Cup tie against Rapid Vienna on Thursday evening, a game that has the potential to see Hammers safely though their group as leaders which would see them avoiding a play off against any one of a number of teams dropping down from the Champions League, even Barcelona!

Dreams of glory will however have to be tempered by the 'North Face' of fixtures awaiting in December, there are no two ways of describing it other than it will test the club to it's limits and beyond. Hammers have to play an ASTONISHING amount of fixtures during the month, NINE in all!

Here is the schedule for what some are calling the 'murder month' of fixtures.

Wednesday 1st December Premier League West Ham United 19:30 Brighton & Hove Albion
Saturday 4th December Premier League West Ham United 12:30 Chelsea
Thursday 9th December Europa League Group H West Ham United 20:00 Dinamo Zagreb
Sunday 12th December Premier League Burnley 14:00 West Ham United
Wednesday 15th December Premier League Arsenal 20:00 West Ham United
Saturday 18th December Premier League West Ham United 15:00 Norwich City
Wednesday 22nd December EFL Cup Tottenham Hotspur 19:45 West Ham United
Sunday 26th December Premier League West Ham United 15:00 Southampton
Tuesday 28th December Premier League Watford 15:00 West Ham United

By the end of December the manager, his coaching staff, his players AND all of the club's fans will have been through a physical and emotional roller coaster, no one knows how it will end, but at least it's nice to make a try! - Ed

Fans To Call UEAFA's Bluff-But Is It Wise?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Wed, 17/11/2021 - 09:40

In the light of UEAFA's 'sudden' ban imposed on Hammers travelling fans, many who have already purchased tickets AND paid substantial amounts of money on hotels and air flights intend to go to Vienna to be part of the game and take in the atmosphere, either through sitting in local bars with fellow Hammers supporters or, more controversially, by accessing tickets originally intended for home supporters.

It is believed that in excess of 1000 tickets that would place West Ham fans among the home supporters have been snapped up via the 'grey' market in Vienna's re-sale underworld at vastly increased prices. This is a set of circumstances of UEAFA and 150 morons' making, it does not bode well for the future and could seriously threaten Hammers European Trophy and potential Champions League qualification aspirations.

It would only take a small spark to ignite a potentially dangerous situation and perhaps UEAFA might have thought through the implications that their 'last minute' decision would have on 'legitimate' fans who had already arranged to attend the game.

We accept that sanctions had to be made and understand that by banning fans from the the upcoming fixture it technically opened the door for fans to be there for the knock out stages of the Europa League Cup, unfortunately having 'disgruntled' travelling fans mixed amongst home fans is a recipe for disaster!

We are NOT suggesting that Hammers fans would be attending looking for trouble, but unfortunately as the song goes, "You looking for trouble? Well you've come to the right place!" is a rather apt musical analogy of 'Rabid's' fans, well at least those who were on display at the London Bowl earlier in the competition.

In order to comply with UEAFA regulations, West Ham will HAVE to officially advise fans against travelling to the Vienna game under ANY circumstances, this will leave the club between a rock and a hard place and the possibility of watching future games being in the hands of those who do choose to attend the game irrespective of the guidance.

Fans have waited YEARS and YEARS for the opportunity to finally see their club playing in a 'meaningful' European competition, it would be a crying shame if they were denied this unique prospect as a result of the actions of a minority of individuals.

David Moyes, his coaching staff and yes even the board as well in their own way, have created a new West Ham that is no longer content with being occasional achievers sandwiched between continuous failures into a team that has genuine aspirations of dining at football's top table. Indeed there is every chance that Hammers will be back in European competition next season, either one way or the other, so there is NO need for fans to panic.

It will take a long while for long suffering fans to acclimatise to the rarefied air that comes with life near the top of the table, but make no mistake, what is happening to club at the moment is REAL, so we would ask fans to show some intelligence and not blow what could be a golden era for the club by their foolish acts even if they are frustrated by UEAFA!

Think about the future!- LN

Antonio "Hoisted By His Own Petard"-Moyes

Of the many thousands of people who have seen Michail Antonio's glorious strike for Jamaica in their 1-1 draw against the USA, one person in particular has shown an immense amount of interest, that person? His manager David Moyes, when asked about Antonio's goal what is Moyes likely to say?

Well it didn't take long for Moyes' opinion to become in the public domain, you would expect a compliment of some kind at least, but instead David Moyes will remind Antonio of "On many occasions my coaching staff and I have worked with Mikey on his finishing, he's getting better and better, but he still has a long way to go. He hasn't scored from outside the box since I've been here, it's something we have been working on and hopefully we will see a few more efforts from distance!".

Take a bow Mr Moyes AND coaching staff, Mikey is developing into one of the most feared strikers around, his unique 'gladiatorial' approach scares the hell out of defenders who invariably end up having to foul the man mountain to stop his progress. The problem for opposing teams is that unless they manage to foul Antonio well up the pitch, they are laying themselves open to Hammers metaphorical nuclear armoury, the set piece!

In the last year and a half, no other top flight team has scored as many goals from set pieces as West Ham, Hammers are SO good at them that the England football team had to request the 'loan' of Iron's set piece coach Paul Nevin to help them out!

As to Antonio, England's loss is Jamaica's gain, how many goals would he have scored against San Marino? That is all academic now as Southgate has missed his chance, but for Antonio his wonder strike has now set the bar and the coaching staff, especially his manager will be expecting more of the same!

When he was a relatively young pup, Michail's shots from distance were ALL row Z candidates at every club he played for, but he is a different 'beast' now. Through good coaching and sheer hard work Antonio has added significantly to his game and is capable of producing moments of astonishing strength and quality.

It has taken Michail Antonio his entire career to finally reach the level he is currently at, but with attainment comes expectation, so the pat on the back he might have expected may well be replaced by a collective kick up the back side from David Moyes, Chicken Kiev, Psycho and of course the Darth Vader of the touchline Paul Nevin, he who is always talking into his radio mic, the sinister one.

You let the cat out of the bag Big Mikey with 'that' goal, have a guess who is going to be doing extra shooting from distance practise at 'Goose Green' when they get back from International duty? Need a clue? Thighs the size of tree trunks and Crown Jewel Hamstrings are your starters for ten! - ED

Video: Big Mikey Scores Worldy Against USA

Having been repeatedly ignored by Gareth Southgate, Michail Antonio chose to represent Jamaica instead of England, he scored for the Reggae Boyz against El Salvador the other day and has just scored a stunning goal against the USA, from OUTSIDE the box!

In his entire career at West Ham United Big Mikey has NEVER scored from outside of the box, in fact we are not sure if he has EVER scored from the distance he did tonight.

Take a look, he's gone to another level on the pitch, but now he has to undertake a massive 14 hour flight to get back to England from Jamaica. Hopefully the journey will not take too much out of him and that he is sufficiently rejuvenated for what will be a challenging fixture away to Wolves on Saturday. - Ed

Czech Mates Ease Through

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 16/11/2021 - 21:58

Vladimir Coufal played the entire 90 minutes of the Czech Republic's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Estonia in Prague, Alex Král played 60 minutes and Tomas Soucek didn't play at all! This is good news for David Moyes,Vlad the Impaler was in need of some competitive game time, as was Alex Král.

On the other hand, Tomas Soucek who was in need of a bit of a break was rested entirely, even better news. Perhaps his manager's decision not to play him might have something to do with Hammers new found entente cordial with the Czechs?

With a major Czech investor now at the club and three top Czech players in the squad, there is definitely a distinctly Czech influence at the London Dome, a name that will hopefully not need to be used in protest, as we have done for ages, for too much longer because Kretinsky and his aides will sort out the naming rights in a jiffy!

How many more Czechs will arrive at the club in the not too distant future? At least we will all be able to laugh when a Czech is given a post. LN

Well Done The 150-Not-As Reason For Ban Confirmed!

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 16/11/2021 - 18:42

West Ham United's most closely linked website Claret & Hugh, were well placed enough to be told directly that the UEFA imposed ban on travelling fans was in fact a correctly reached decision, despite the inconvenience and financial loss hundreds of fans will face.

Hammers had written to Uefa seeking reasons for the ban and what they could do about the situation but were emphatically informed that the penalties would stand irrespective of any actions taken by the club to facilitate a change of decision.
The club were told that the reason lies with 150 supporters who stormed the gates at Genk and forced stewards to open them. UEFA have made it clear that they intend to enforce the ban and it is now the case that if such trouble continues in the future all away support will be banned, possibly indefinitely!

Fans were enraged by UEFA's decision seeing it as a bias against the club, but unfortunately it is the club's OWN fans who have brought the club into disrepute. Not only have they ruined the plans of hundreds of 'real fans', costing many a lot of money, but they have now made a rod that can be used on the club's back JUST as there are genuine opportunities for fans to follow the club abroad for the first time in a generation!

There are usually two sides to every story, unfortunately the club Genk's CCTV that UEFA used clearly shows Hammers fans were at fault and had mounted a sustained 'reign of terror' against the stewards before finally forcing their way into the ground.

Repetitions of what England fans did at Wembley during the European Finals against Italy are viewed as extremely troubling by those who run UEFA, the selfish 150 have done lasting damage and threaten to derail the future plans of so many fans.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill paradoxically, "Never have so many been so messed up by so few", well done the 150, NOT! - Ed

Are UEAFA-ING A Laugh?

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 16/11/2021 - 08:30

UEFA have fined West Ham just under £30,000 and banned them from selling tickets to fans for their next Europa League game which is the away tie against Rapid Vienna, as a result of “crowd disturbances” in their last European tie in Genk and at the previous Europa Cup league game at home against Rapid Vienna.

Quite how this judgement was reached is a cause for investigation, the timing of the decision is an absolute OUTRAGE! Hundreds of law abiding fans stand to lose 'substantial' amounts of money as a result of the fixture being cancelled for visiting fans, and while there will be refunds for tickets purchased, no such arrangement is in place for fans who have already forked out for air fares AND accomodation.

Having attended the 'contensious' home game at the London Bowl, we are still baffled as to why Hammers should be held responsible for away fans hell bent on causing trouble! Realistically, outside of the ground, who on earth would put up with having 'sizeable' objects thrown at them without some form of retaliation?

When considering the miniscule fines handed out to seriously racist 'interventions' perpetrated against England's national side by 'ultras' of many eastern european countries, the word hypocrisy springs to mind, swiftly followed by the acusation of the dual standards UEFA operate under.

A fair deal? Are 'you 'aiffing' a laugh? - Ed
