Fred In For Zabba Snoddy And Authur To Start!

Many Hammers fans will be hoping this Saturday's match at the London Stadium will not be a 'ground hog day', the home team's performance during last weekend's match against Sheffield United wasn't exactly insipid, with the exception of Robert Snodgrass and Felipe Anderson, it just lacked urgency. Fans were quick to voice their displeasure at the end of the game, citing one or two glaring issues that need attention.

Wonderful servant that he has been, Pablo Zabaleta is not the player he once was, he was woeful during the Sheffield game, and was a liability each time he went forward, his final ball missing the mark four times out of five, to use a formula 1 parlance "Zaba's tyres have gone off the cliff" and there isn't any way back. Ryan Fredericks can run down the flank, put a cross in, and still manage to make it back to do his defensive duties in the time that it takes Zaba to run one way nowadays!

Expect Fredericks to regain his place in the starting line up at Zaba's expense, his fellow wing back might well be Authur Masuaku for this Saturday's encounter against Newcastle. Manuel Pellegrini always seems to be caught between two stools when it comes to selecting either 'King Authur' or 'Cressy the Scallywag', each player has great qualities, however each player also has frailties that can get exposed in the heat of 'battle'.

In the midfield, Robert Snodgrass would have done enough last week to earn another start for most managers, but we are dealing with Manuel Pellegrini and his increasingly 'Tinker man' tendencies. 'Snoddy's' inclusion would be at the expense of losing the creative flair of Manuel Lanzini and/or Pablo Fornals, who ever is in the midfield their primary duty is to link play up in order to get more service to the incredibly isolated Sebastian Haller up front.

As we are approaching Panto season, expect to see Mr Andrew Thomas Carroll appear as the wicked witch and dispense 'worldy' goals with aplomb, we believe the bookies have already stopped taking money on the big geordie to score against his former club.

Anticipated Line Up: Roberto, Fredericks, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku, Rice, Noble, Yarmolenko, Snodgrass, Anderson, Haller. Subs: Martin, Lanzini, Cresswell, Fornals, Ogbonna, Zabaleta, Ajeti.

'Lazarus' Has Risen - Reid Returns!

Submitted by nevillenixon on Thu, 31/10/2019 - 17:48

Picture this, you are a top professional footballer, captain of your country and a fearsome warrior, you have just come back from a worryingly long injury, one of an increasing number, and you go to head the ball in a game against Swansea, minutes later you regain consciousness on a stretcher which is about to become your transport in to a nineteen month nightmare, This is what happened to Winston Reid!

It is easy to forget that Winston Reid was one of the first players on the match day team sheets, his services were coveted by a whole host of 'top' clubs, both British and European and he was one of the club's most valuable assets, which is why he was awarded a six year deal on £70,000 per week in order to fend off the 'circling vultures' which included both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Unfortunately not long after signing the deal, Reid had a series of injuries that ranged from the niggly to the more serious, the combination of which saw him only play less than half the games that season, and the injury difficulties followed him in to the next season, albeit slightly less. So, following the aforementioned nineteen months out through injury during which Winston Reid only managed to play three games including two friendlies, it has come as a welcome relief to the player, his family, the club, it's medical staff and a lot of Hammers fans that he made his long awaited injury comeback for the West Ham Under 23 team on Tuesday night after what has seemed a lifetime.

The recovering Kiwi centre back played a pre-planned 62 minutes for the youngsters in their 3-2 Premier League International Cup defeat to Wolfsburg B at the Rush Green Training Ground, before being replaced by 15 year old Jamal Baptiste. The great news is that so far there are no new injury issues, and that the players integration to the main squad is on course. Manuel Pellegini's post match observation was that “We will see how Winston reacts now. Next time, he will play a complete game, and then we will see how he does training with the first team.” It is going to be a long process.

Ried's 'Lazarus' like recovery is a lot more than just a player coming back from injury, fully fir or not Reid is a warrior, and while it will undoubtedly take him a long time to get back to match fitness, and he will probably never be quite the player he once was, his presence should not be underestimated. How many games, particularly at home, have the crowd called out for someone to 'get stuck in', the most recent example of which was Robert Snodgrass's performance against Sheffield United, it may not have been elegant, but it was what people who have worked a hard week wanted to see, someone putting a shift in!

Winston Reid never shirked from a challenge, he scored the winning goal at the Boleyn Ground's last ever match, he deserves the chance to have another go, and if the injury Gods grant him the chance then no one, not just from West Ham, but within the Football fraternity would begrudge him the opportunity. - Ed

Mad As A Coot Ref Watch For Irons Against Blades

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Sat, 26/10/2019 - 21:25

Reading media reports about the 1-1 draw between West Ham United and Sheffield United it appears that people saw two different matches, why there has not been more mention about the referee's performance, or the lack of the use of VAR on at least three occasions is symptomatic of a let's have a go at Pellegrini agenda getting in the way of the truth.

Anyone who had to endure the chaotic London Overground system before the match, played out in a miserable mist, will tell you the atmosphere was really good, but that the slippy conditions made a lot of passes, from both teams, go astray. On another day Hammers could have scored five goals, having been denied two blatant penalties, on another day had it not been for Roberto in goal, it could have been a 3-1 defeat.

Following on from the perceived versions of the game, for some reason Roberto is being blamed by certain sections of the media for conceding the away team's goal too easily, perhaps they were still trying to get in to the stadium when Roberto pulled off a world class double save! The Hammers topper also made a couple of other really decent saves and his distribution is getting better with each game, people should get off his back!

Criticising the referee is not something we normally do here at the Org, but the ref was atrocious, it can only be assumed the size of the stadium and the crowd got the better of him, he must also have been hypnotised ahead of the game in order to ensure that Sebastian Haller could get fouled on a constant basis, without sanctioning any of the opposition players at all, it is the only explanation as to why he allowed so many Sheffield United fouls to go unpunished.

Sheffield United are unbeaten on their travels so far this season, so a draw, whilst not the best result, wasn't a tragedy. Manuel Pellegrini will no doubt come under a lot of criticism, he's the manager, it's his job, and yes some of his decisions have been questionable, but at the end of the day there are a bunch of extremely highly paid athletes out on the pitch to perform, it is to them people should look first.

Having said that, substituting Anderson was a strange decision, at least the timing of it, because he appeared to be one of the best performers in the claret and blue all afternoon. The general Fabian Balbuena was also a reassuring presence in a defence that was stretched to the limit by the visitors energetic style of play, for some reason he seems much less an accident waiting to happen than Angelo Ogbonna.

Next up is the visit of Newcastle United, who are equally capable of being brilliant one match and awful the next, Hammers have had two under par matches, but this draw should have put the brakes on the negativity that had grown following the defeats to Palace and Everton, there are reasons to be cheerful, it just depends where you look! There is no point in mentioning the VAR as it didn't exist- Ed

Big Name Dropped For Blades Clash

West Ham United have spent relatively big on 'style' players, when they are on song they are a joy to behold, however in the Barclays Premier league there is no place to hide, and flair players often find it hard to adapt to the cut and thrust of the game. This scenario is currently affecting Manuel Pellegrini's team, the player who has 'suffered' most is Pablo Fornals although Felipe Anderson has also come in for a lot of criticism, most of it entirely unfounded!

Prior to the two defeats against Palace and Everton, fans were overjoyed with the team's performances, so what has gone wrong? The absence of Michail Antonio has begun to have a collateral effect, when teams need 'beasting' he is the man, there is not another player in the current 1st team squad who is equivalent. There are options in the U-23 squad and with players out on loan, it is inconceivable that Grady Diangana will stay at West Brom when the January window opens, as his form will surely put him in to first team contention.

Word has reached us that Fornals is indeed not in the starting line up, and possibly not even in the squad as Manuel Pellegrini looks to protect one of his prize assets from a media that can be extremely cruel, especially to such a young player finding his feet in a new country. If Fornals doesn't make the squad, expect a 'mysterious niggle' picked up in training to be given as the reason for his absence, it is what any good manager does, protect their charges!

It is almost beyond belief that the Irons can play as poorly this Saturday as they did in last Saturday's abject 'surrender' to Everton, Aaron Cresswell will surely play as left back so long as he has recovered from his 'niggle', while maybe the General Fabian Balbuena will replace Angelo Ogbonna in defence. Either way El Pell has to mix things up in order to ensure the promising start to the season doesn't fizzle out, as we have mentioned before, this season represents a genuine chance to go and mix it with the big boys.

As always the crowd will be behind the team at the London Stadium, which will be a pretty noisy place given the vociferous nature of the match, the 'Carlos Tevez Saga' looms large and you can bet your house on the Blades fans being right up for the occasion, their team beat Arsenal last week and they will be looking to add another London club's scalp to their belt.

A Kick start to the season, or more misery? We'll know by 5pm this evening - Ed

Perhaps I shouldn't say it but I've been looking at a lot of WHU sites and they seem to think we are playing Barcelona so they beat The Gooners on Mon night I think last time we played Them we done them 1-0 as well. So we hada bad day against the toffees, I've been supporting WHU for yonks and know that it could be our turn to play well. If anything though it is to our advantage as we won't turn up to teamslikeWimbledon Brighton etcand think we don't have to do much, they area newly-promoted side and who knows the blades they could turn up overconfident, Football funny old game This is going to bea very physical game could end up ion plenty of bookings and maybe sending off just hope its not Nobes.

Four West Ham Players Who Need To Step Up

Submitted by New Jersey Hammer on Fri, 25/10/2019 - 18:10

The Hammers haven’t quite been able to stamp their authority during this season of the Barclays Premier League. Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham stand 11th after nine games (3 wins, 3 losses, and as many draws). An emphatic victory against Manchester United has been a major highlight of the 2019-20 Premier League season for the Hammers.
A 5-0 thrashing at the hands of the defending champions ended up ruffling their feathers. Thus far, it has been a season of mixed fortunes for West Ham, but it can be said that supporters and enthusiasts have been right behind the team.

Last season, Marko Arnautović led the club’s scoring charts after scoring 11 goals across competitions. He ended the previous season of the Premier League as the club’s highest goal scorer (with 10 goals). He shifted base to China after the 2018-19 Premier League season and currently plies his trade for the Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League. His departure has created a hole in the club’s attacking line. It is time that others in their ranks put their hand up and lead the side’s forward line.

Fabian Balbuena
The Paraguayan had played a major role in driving the side out of troubled waters, but his on-field exploits seem to have plunged this season. He has made a handful of appearances for the Hammers this season and has looked completely out of place thus far. The 28-year-old hasn’t been able to counter the counter attacks launched by the opposition’s forward line. It is said that attack alone is not enough, you also need to be able to defend your goal post in order to win matches for your side. Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop have been making their presence felt in recent times. Balbuena will have to raise his game if he wants to leave Ogbonna and Diop behind.

Felipe Anderson
This lad from Brazil is considered one of the team’s most talented players. He was roped in by the Hammers during the summer of 2018. The Hammers paid £41.5 million to Lazio in order to acquire the 26-year-old’s services. Many believe that Anderson is brimming with raw talent, but will require time to iron out the chinks in his armour. In the first eight games this season, he was involved in just four assists. His dwindling returns on the field can end up complicating matters for the Hammers, but he is a fighter. He bounces back just when you write him off. If you want to watch his on-field exploits, then get your tickets booked using Tic Flip.

Pablo Fornals
The attacking midfielder from Spain was roped into the side from Villarreal. In the Spanish La Liga, he was one of Viilarreal’s most valuable players. The 23-year-old formed the heart of Villarreal’s midfield, but he hasn’t been able to find his feet in the Premier League thus far. The biggest problem ailing him is his inability to retain the ball. He has been seen losing possession quite frequently. Consequently, the Hammers are unable to convert scoring opportunities into goals.

Jack Wilshere
He is one of the most experienced players in West Ham United’s ranks. After having spent a good amount of time at Arsenal FC, the midfielder brings a wealth of experience along, but has been struggling with injuries in recent times. It is time he brings all of his experience into play in order to turn the club’s fortunes around.
The 2019-20 season of the Premier League has a lot of opportunities for the taking. The lads from the London Stadium have the necessary firepower to punch above their weight. It will be interesting to see how they go about their business.
