Hammers Co-Owners Conspicuous By Their Silence!

Who would have thought it? Nearly a quarter of the way in to the season and despite stumping up the best part of £100 Million and signing a World Class manager in Manuel Pellegrini, West Ham United's co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan have been conspicuous by their absence in the media. So rare have there been any comments from the two Davids that rumours persist as to whether the elderly duo have in fact been abducted by Aliens, it would seem the only logical way of explaining their silence. They have neither criticised when things were awful nor gloated when things took a turn for the bettter, they have not sought 'the love of the fans' nor to take any credit for the club's movement in the right direction, instead they are content to bask in the glory of knowing that they actually got something right, in fact something exceptional!

This season is like no other for West Ham, the broken promises, poor form and general malaise surrounding the club has been cast aside, even having such a poor start in a way has focused how superb the recent progress has been. Very few fans thought the team would acquire the points they have during the month of September with many fearing no points at all. At the helm Manuel Pellegrini looked a little brow beaten and jaded as he tried to gel all his new recruits, with some questioning whether his time in China had blunted his skill set.

The Co-Owners are now being rewarded for having kept the faith, and for having kept their mouth's shut! It must be empowering to see part of their plan finally bare fruition, not that they can rest on their laurels as there is still much to be done with regards the London Stadium. The atmosphere on Saturday was electric, as has been for many other games particularly those under the lights, fans will forgive dodgy sight lines and the odd faff about draught beer, realistically they could sell draught milk and no one would mind so long as the team keeps on performing to the highest level with endevour, that's just about all people want, the rest is just window dressing.

How long will the Aliens keep hold of Sully and Gold and where are they now? Well remember El Pel went on a 'little visit' to Chile and then suddenly 'popped up' back at Rush Green with no fanfare or pre-announcement, as though he had never been away? We think he has dropped of the pair with revolutionaries whose ransom note has been'delayed' due to a technicality, apparently it is scheduled for delivery by Mark McKay just after the January transfer window closes.

Ground Hog Day As Carroll Rumoured To Be Available For El Pel

Just when things were progressing swimmingly for the Hammers, a reminder of how fragile their precarious early progress is has arrived in the form of one Andrew Carroll being lined up for a potential return to the first team. A lot has happened since Carroll picked up his obligatory three to four month injury as the precursor to his and West Ham's season, is it going to be another Ground Hog Day? Usually the big geordie's return from injury is heralded by a fanfare that culminates in one or two impressive performances that usually involve him jumping higher and more powerfully than virtually any other player, these efforts are invariably rewarded with a goal or two which are swiftly followed by paper talk of an England call up 'to give the team something different'.

Gareth Southgate is due to announce his squad soon, but the England manager knows that the only Hammer he is really interested in is Declan Rice, Southgate like many others admired Carroll's once in a blue moon attributes but knows to avoid Carroll and his perpetual injuries like a barge pole. In a way Carroll's relationship with the club and it's fans is similar to a couple who have a bad relationship caused by 'cheating or beating', the transgressor shows remorse and promises to be better and try harder, only for the inevitable relapse to occur. Only this time Andy Carroll is not an intrinsic member of the first team and has never been viewed as one, we believe Manuel Pellegrini's instructions to his assistants have been to get the player fit ahead of being able to flog him to a team that are really desperate in the January transfer window!

We are in no way suggesting that Andy Carroll deliberately injures himself, we would mention that his 'health' regime was poor to say the least, particularly before he settled down with his current partner, it is just that Carroll is a race horse not a dray horse and as such his body cannot withstand the impact inflicted on it by his massive leaps in the air and subsequent landings. It is a shame to admit or accept. but Andy Carroll is one of football's 'nearly men', he had the ability but not the body! Dean Ashton is another example of 'matter over mind' although his injuries were severe and career ending, whereas Carroll's have been constant and perpetuated in the early days by a lack of healthy regime.

The club has progressed superbly under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini and has reached a point where instead of looking back and trying to make the most of bad mistakes the club is moving forward and looking to the future, and that future doesn't include Andy Carroll, who no matter what, is not going to make a miraculous recovery and become injury free, the best medical people in the World have already tried and failed to get the ex-england striker fit for more than a few weeks at a time.

Talks regarding a new contract for Carroll have unsurprisingly not been scheduled, the club will just be looking to get anything they can out of his sale in the January window ahead of his contract winding down as it is in it's final year, Carroll was a 'vanity' signing in a similar vein to Joe Hart, at least Hart wasn't injured 90% of the time! West Ham have moved on, now it's time for other people to buy our has been's and failures instead of the other way! Time to go Andy - Ed

Take a seat and if you have a hot drink in your hand please put it down before reading this as some shocking news has come out of the club this morning and that news is a certain Andy Carroll is ready to return to first team action after the international break....I no I almost fell off my chair upon reading that...there is a lot of work ahead for the west ham staff who now have to make the everything and everywhere Carroll safe from extra cushioning on the benches to half tennis balls on sharp corners a new job as door opener and closer so he does not strain his finger/hand/wrist/elbow/bicep/tricep/shoulder also a personal boot lacer for the same reason everything has too be made super safe...the length of each blade of grass will also have to be checked as we all rmbr he got injured playing on grass before and that meant a 6 month lay off yeah in carroll terms thats a short break....Wheelchair is distraught at losing his buddie and the treatment room is empty without his presence but the medical team have assured him it will only be for a short while as Carroll loves the place.

Worrying Forward Line Injury News Ahead Of Brighton Clash

The lows and highs of Premier League football cannot be better illustrated than by looking at the fortunes of West Ham United over the last couple of weeks, from crisis club to slayers of Red Devils and fillers of Toffee laden mouths! There is a genuine air of hope surrounding the club, a far contrast from earlier in the season. However the joy fans are currently feeling will be slightly tempered by the reality that both Andriy Yarmolenko and Marko Arnoutovic are not 100% for the game against Brighton this coming Friday evening.

Arnoutovic still has a very painful impact knee injury that will require nursing, hopefully Arnie will be given time to recover during the International break, Yarmolenko picked up an ankle injury during the 3-1 victory over Manchester United and is a real doubt for Friday. If Yarmolenko is unavailable Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini may well use either Robert Snodgrass or Michail Antonio to fulfil what has become a very important position in the way he sets his team up, speed and skill down the wing is an essential requisite for any of Pellegrini's preferred starting line up.

Last season Brighton took six points off of a rudderless West Ham, what was once a ship with no direction is now a boat on a true course with the right man at the healm, an admiral with a proper captain at his side. Pellegrini and Noble are about as far apart as you can get when they talk, but they both share a passion which somehow negates background or reputation. Pellegrini is the eighth manager Mark Noble has worked with in his fifteen year career at the club and is undoubtably the best, there is a real chance of the team challenging to be 'the best of the rest' this season and under Pellegini's guidance with the support of senior players there is no reason to assume otherwise.

It is perhaps testimony to Pellegrini's approach, particularly his desire to build a squad not just a team, that even with Javier Hernandez having the longest case of flu ever and Andy Carroll being a long term injury as usual, that the manager has options available instead of scraping the barrel as has so often been the case in the past. Lucas Perez is available as is young hot shot Grady Diangana, not bad for a 'third wave' of players available from the bench, it would be foolish to assume the likes of Arnoutovic, Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson will be able to get through the rigours of a Premier League season without at least one of them picking up a lengthy injury so it is at least encouraging that there is finally strength in depth available to the manager, a situation that he sought reassurances about before signing up for the 'Hammers' project. - Ed

Hammers Gruesome Twosome Set For The long Term

Winston Reid and James Collins at their zenith as defenders were a formidable duo for West Ham, however Reid sustained an unfortunate injury towards the end of last season that followed on from what had increasingly become a regular series of injuries involving a lengthy lay off and recovery period. Collins' contract that had expired was not renewed and a bright new future was envisaged, however the early results meant that the new players brought in by Manuel Pellegrini were under the microscope and there were calls for Collins to be re-instated once news of him 'keeping fit' with the first team was made public.

Fast foward a couple of weeks and the centre back pairing of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena is being drooled over by fans and pundits alike, and rightly so. Diop's £22 Million price tag raised a few eyebrows on his arrival whereas Balbuena crept under the radar at a ridiculously low £3.75 Million. Both players took a while to adjust to the rigours and style of the Barclays Premier League, but both have taken to it with aplomb, their combined performances over the last three Premier League games have been imperious, beaten manager Jose 'Sourinho' was moved to say what a monster Diop was.

The defeated Manchester United manager might well have mentioned that Balbuena was also a 'Beast' and between the Beast and the Monster they hardly gave the visitors a sniff at goal, some marriages are made in heaven and some in hell, but the Diop Balbuena defensive partnership could quite seriously help the club finally reach the level to which it has aspired to for so many years.

A rock solid defence is what all great teams are built upon, and in Diop and Balbuena, abely backed up by Fabianski in goal and the ever improving Declan Rice, the future looks bright, brighter than it has been for many a year. Diop and Balbuena are both on long term deals, Rice is expected to sign a new five year deal in the next few days and along with the previously mentioned others could go on to help form the spine of the team for many a year.

It's just a pity that this 'rise from the ashes' that the club is currently experiencing might not happen in enough time for Mark Noble and Pablo Zabaleta before both of whom, who royally deserve to see some real sucess, hang up their boots! - Ed

Spuds in the next round of the cup

At the moment this fixture is gonna be a real headache for Spurs as they have us in the Prem on the 20th Oct, PSV on the 24th Oct, Man Citeh on the 29th which is supposed to be on Sky on the Monday, and us on the Tuesday at 19.45 on 30th Oct according to the BBC website so obviously this lot have got to rescheduled but I can see Pottechino being a little bit stressed when they play us, because spuds fixtures look a bit congested, and with a bit of luck they will have to play a few of their youth and fringe players, What a shame! cos I think Pellegrini will go for it COYI.
