Thoughts? Is this just paper talk?
Arnautovic Leaving???
Forums:
I know you can't believe everything you read in the papers but according to The Independent Arnis Brother and agent has said that a player like Arni who is 29, and at his peak should not be fighting relegation battles, and should be going for medals and championships, and the alarming part of this is that Arnautovic has said that he has full confidence in his agent, So it looks to me as though he's been tapped up by a bigger club. I can't see WHU letting him go until the end of the season but it will be a shame to lose a player of his calibre, leave at any time, and if its in the next window when we are looking to pick up points from really winnable games it could spell really big trouble for us as it would really knock our confidence as we don't have anything like a decent striker to replace him Lets hope this is just a wind up and I am jumping the gun COYI
Hammers Ghost Squad Recruiting Keeper
The final piece of the Jigsaw is being sought by West Ham United as they attempt to construct the finest 'ghost squad' in the Barclays Premier League, European qualification is already guaranteed this early in the season and it is all but agreed that the club should push for the World Ghost Squad finals such is the belief in the 'team', the only vacant berth is in the goalkeeping area!
Hammers impressive line up includes Ryan Fredericks, Sam Byram, Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Nathan Holland, Andrily Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini, Xande Silva and Andy Carroll, all that is missing is a keeper with a long term injury and the club will be set to compete. Really there are very few clubs who can compete with West Ham for ghost squads and of course some of the 'big' clubs are already sniffing around to see if they can pick up an outrageously over priced over paid injury prone casualty, but the Hammers hierarchy are having none of that.
An 'insider' was quoted as saying "the club has spent years and years building up such a magnificent bunch of failures, failure doesn't come cheap you know", they continued by saying "It is our intention to hold on to our injured players and that is that, the players are going nowhere!" The 'insideher' went on to say " furthermore it is our intention to recruit al least one more injury prone player, Sami Nasri, during the January window, and possibly one or two more, after all there is a lot to be said for having strength in depth for our ghost squad, we are very proud of what we have achieved and will continue in the same direction for the forseeable future".
And who said Hammers can't do things properly? - Ed

Golden Handshake
Forums:
Well this one got my goat the second I saw it. Some Chelsea fat cat has asked each prem club for $250 grand so they can give Peter Scudamore a $5mill golden handshake when he steps down from the $2.5mill role as CEO of the Prem League, a role he's held for 19yrs.
Are you fucking serious???? How about those clubs give back $250grand to the fans, the lifeblood of the clubs and let this fat cat cnut slink off into the sunset with his ego to spend the money already pilfered.
This just beggars belief, but not quite as much as the clubs agreeing to it!!! Once again they prove how out of touch they are with their fan bases.
(excuse the $ sign, only English keyboards have pounds)
Samir Nasri
Forums:
Not all that keen on Nasri, I think he is another over the hill player and I just hope he doesn't cause too much trouble. I can imagine him and Arnaughtovic getting at it, both with big egos, he was an ok player on his day for Gunners and Citeh and always played well against us but i think he could end up like Ezra -one last payday complete waste of money and not a good replacement for Yarmalenko although Pellegrini must Know his pedigree, but I'd sooner we searched around, and he ain't worth the aggro. Its reported that the deal has hit a snag allready so perhaps he has failed his medical. I hope so.

Javier Hernandez Off To Spain In January - Barca Or Real?
With the exception of Europe's elite clubs, many of which are rumoured to be questionably funded, there are few teams if any that can afford to pay a player £7 Million per year in wages and yet only use them very sparingly. Javier Hernandez arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for a £16 Million fee but on enormous wages, he has barely been used by initially Slaven Billic, then David Moyes and now present manager Manuel Pellegrini. Admitedly 'Chicharito's' options to start matches this season have been extremely limited this season due to a severe bout of flu that turned into glandular fever, a debilitating virus that could put even the best of athletes on their back.
The lengthy recovery time involved after his bout of glandular fever meant that Hernadez was unavailable when most needed by Pellegrini, the Chilean had to look elsewhere within his squad to fill the void and as has rapidly become the norm dipped in to the rich vein of talent available in the youth set up.
There are so many exciting players champing at the bit make the step up to the next level that Pellegrini is spoiled for choice, youngsters have seen that the club's manager appointed in the summer is keen to bring youth on and is not afraid to give them a chance as is clearly visible with the intergration of Declan Rice and Grady Diagana in to the first team as well as Coventry and Powell being added to the bench, there is also great anticipation as to how he uses Xande Silva and Nathan Holland once they have recovered from their respective injuries.
The numbers just don't add up when it comes to Javier Hernandez at West Ham and surely it is time for the club to cash in on the highly paid forward, his age is against him and he really doesn't seem to fit the Pellegrini 'template' of a player, and anyway El Pel has adopted Robert Snodgrass as his 'golden oldie', and given the amount of effort and apptitude the Scottish international has shown of late the right decision appears to have been made. It should be remebered that Hernadez receives more money per week than Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass combined, and that is even before we discuss Declan Rice's wages!
So where does Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez go? Well according to his agent he is set for either a loan spell or permanent transfer in January to a 'prominent' La Liga team, there are only nine teams in Spain who could possibly afford the Mexican striker and they are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Sevilla, Deportivo de La Coruña and Real Betis. Given the fair play issues as wll as form it is unlikely that either Real or Barca would have any interest leaving a choice of one of the other listed clubs, none of which are cash rich.
Despite his past credibility, Hernandez has become a financial liability, one that may see West Ham having to supplement his wages if he goes out on loan! The fact is his transfer has been little short of an unmitigated disaster, the sooner he, Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere are off the books the better, there surely must be better options available, the three players mentioned are on a combined total of over £400,000 per week, that's over £20 Million per annum for bench warmers and perenial attendees of the medical centre, no wonder there is no more money available that is a sizeable chunk of money for any club, particularly for one that DOES'NT cheat the FFP rules, perhaps one of those clubs can use their ill gotten funding to take these three of the club's books. - Ed

Anyone seen Lofty?
Forums:
Latest I hear we want Rueben Loftus Cheek on loan in January. Chelsea though are not interested in letting him go now, despite no reassurance of game time. Personally I think this young man has the potential to be the biggest star in English football from a home grown point of view. Notwithstanding Harry Kane. If we could land him that would be a major feather in our cap and for the midfield. Even if it is until the end of the season.
Forget About The Penalty What About The Red Card Not Given
There has been substantial coverage of the 'penalty' that should have been given during Hammers victory over Burnley at the London Stadium, the BBC match of the day reviewers and the match commentator Jonathan Pearce all agreed that Grady Diangana was clearly brought down in the box and deserved to have been awarded a penalty, replays confirmed the validity of the penalty comprehensively. Even referee supremo Mark Clattenburg came out of his cosseted closset to say "I am shocked that West Ham were not awarded a penalty when Grady Diangana was felled by Steven Defour. Sean Dyche praised Diangana for not making a meal of it but that is not why it was not given when a player is racing into the box with a defender in pursuit, the referee must be as close as possible but Roger East’s positioning was wrong. This was only his second Premier League match after failing a fitness test a lack of games makes you rusty."
Fortunately Hammers didn't need the penalty in the end as they eventually ran out as 4-2 winners, however the player who should have been awarded the penalty, Grady Diangana, was on the receiving end of an outrageous over the top tackle in the build up to West Ham's third and Felipe Anderson's second goal. The referee rightly played the advantage with Anderson duly scoring, but the ferocity of the tackle by James Tarkowski was only punished with a yellow card, if Mark Noble's card against Leicester was a justifiable red, which it was, then why on earth didn't Tarkowski receive the same?
It was only Diangana's athleticism that prevented him from receiving serious injury from what could have been a career ending tackle, one which would have looked more in place at an NFL match but even then would probably have been sanctioned! The only reason more wasn't made of the 'incident' at the time was because West Ham had just retaken the lead after letting Burnley claw their way back in to the game twice, the sense of relief was so palpable among players and fans alike that no one seemed to want to dredge the tackle up. Things might well have been entirely different had the ball not ended up in the back of the net. While Grady Diangana was flying through the air Marko Arnoutovic had already begun to look very angry and sought to 'remonstrate' with the player and the referee. However in the heat of the moment Arnie's anger dissipated with the joy of scoring and the referee retrospectively issued a yellow card to James Tarkowski.
Because James Tarkowski was given a yellow card by Roger East during the match he will escape further sanction, this seems ridiculous given the amount of TV evidence available. It should be remembered that Tarkowski was none too pleased to have been outmuscled and robbed of the ball by Marko Arnoutovic for Hammers first goal, an event that 'Arnie' took great pleasure in rubbing the England defender's nose in it by having a word in his ear right after scoring! Tarkowski's demeanor was further darkened by the fact that Diangana was 'skinning' him and fellow defender Charlie Taylor for pace making them look much slower and more stupid than they actually were, this may explain the 'intensity' and execution of the tackle carried out by the newly selected England defender who also had the unenviable task of trying to keep an eye out for Felipe Anderson who was dominating the game.
It is not good to wish ill on a player, but Tarkowski needs to 'review' that tackle and count his lucky stars that he didn't seriously injure one of the 'stars' of the future, a player who might well join him in the England set up in the not too distant future, now that would be interesting. Diangana has not been 'tainted' by the candour and contempt that the Barclays Premier League can induce, he is a breath of fresh air and Hammers fans should enjoy him while they can, and maybe one day they will be able to say I was there when his illustrious career began. - Ed
