Fixture Reverse For Hammers First Euro Match

West Ham United will play the first leg of their Europa League campaign at home to Andorran team FC Lusitans on July the 2nd, not July the 9th. This is after the initial schedule was reversed to avoid a fixture clash with Andorra's other representatives, Sant Julia, who were also drawn at home to Denmark's Randers in the first leg. The clear benefit for West Ham is that the tube strike threatened for the original home date will now have no effect! The benefit for the Lusitans is that they can move venues in Andorra to increase revenue, in fact they are entitled to re-locate the match ,for safety and logistical reasons, to virtually any stadium they want, so long as it is in Europe. The venue for the return leg is due to be announced by 18:00Hrs ECT -Ed

Hammers Get Andorran Minnows In Europa League Qualifiers

West Ham United have been drawn against FC Lusitans for the first preliminary round of the Europa League Cup. The first leg is to be played on July 2nd in Andorra, the return leg will be played at the Boleyn Ground on July 9th.
FC Lusitans are based in Andorra la Vella, the capital of the principality. The football club were formed in 1999 and are also known as Lusitanos. The club's name, crest and kit reflect its Portuguese identity and they play at the 1,000-capacity Camp d'Esports d'Aixoval. Twice league champions in 2011/12 and 2012/13, they booked their place in the UEFA Europa League by finishing as runners-up last year. This will be their third participation in the Europa League and have lost in the first qualifying round in their previous attempts.
Andorra is a quick blast through france and could represent a good jolly, unfortunately the away allowance is 100 spectators! -Ed

Europa League Draw, Hammers Await, Hoping To Avoid Lengthy Journeys

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Mon, 22/06/2015 - 09:47

The draw for the Europa League will take place at midday on monday June the 22nd, West Ham are top seeds, but could face a journey nearly as lengthy as their ill fated tour of New Zealand and Australia last year. Much has been written about the amount of games that have to be played, in fact the team that wins may have ended up having to play TWENTY THREE games before they can lift the Cup. Some see the Europa League as a poisoned chalice, but this year the rewards are so much higher than in previous years, with vastly increased TV revenues and coverage plus the added incentive of a full Champions League place for the eventual victors.
Hammers have a golden opportunity to progress well in the Europa League and will be able to use the early rounds as an intense pre-season, giving fringe and youth team players the chance to shine. After all, what has happened to the Academy? If there isn't any talent coming through, why not? and what is the point of having an academy that doesn't produce players? And what has happened to Leo Chambers, he represented England at all youth levels and even made the bench a couple of times under Big Sam, Leo is still on the club's books, so where is he? He had a quad injury a couple of years ago, but surely the medical team would have sorted that by now! Or has Leo been treated with such disdain by the previous coaching staff that he has given up? After all, what is the point of trying if you know you are not going to get in to the first team, if you weren't one of Big Sam's boys you were out in the cold and that was about that!
Competing in the Europa so early presents problems as well as potential solutions, and it is to be hoped that the new regime will be able to 'give youth a chance' whilst still trying to progress as far in the competition as possible, Slaven Billic has a reputation for nurturing young talent and what better way than to do so away from the glare of the Barclays Premier League.
Of course being West Ham, there is a strong possibility that the club gets knocked out in the first round, and all the talk of being over stretched will be entirely academic!
We will have the draw here at midday - Ed

Should we should be putting a large chunk of our transfer budget into another striker? With Carroll, Sakho, and Valencia, and the possibility that Slaven might get more out of Zarate than Sam did (who knows maybe even Maiga might be better under Bilic!!) Shouldn't we be concentrating on getting in 2 high class attacking mid-fielders? Another right-back (2 IF Jenks doesn't sign), and maybe take a punt on another 'Sakho' type acquisition if we want to increase our striker numbers?
Thoughts gentlemen?

BBC Olympic Stadium Bias! Dan Roan Rules, What A Sheffield Uniteder!

When you next pay your BBC licence fee for the year, kindly consider, not the fact that one of the characters that you gladly paid your dues for was the hugely entertaining Jeremy Clarkson, now removed, but the fact that the BBC and the licence fee payer continually 'sponsor' the opinionated and deluded, 'senior' journalist, Dan Roan .
This is what happens when the truth is on offer!

Olympic Stadium: West Ham, Andy Carroll and two £15m deals

Posting:

Dan Roan has a particular dislike of west ham, I should know because I was one of the journalists outside the court of arbitration that 'stole' £25 million off west ham to give to Dan's pals at sheffield united. Dan, I was there, and i heard exactly what you said. You may not remember because your head was so far up in the clouds ( up your ass!) due to the fact that you were mr sky big man at the time!

Simple plan for the .org
Last season at the Boleyn.
The .org being rescued from the abyss by Nev and some incredible work from MK.
New manager, history and emotion.
How about an .org day at the Boleyn? A match we all agree on, early start, pie and mash, beers game and a few cocktails after....
A jolly boys outing if you will.
It'll take some doing, but I'm happy to facilitate if there's enough interest.
Nev this does include you chief so don't scarper lol.
A few of us met a couple of year ago and several of you have met before and since, but if all old, new and "always been there" fancy it comment below and we can look to target a game to see out the old girl.
Molly can't come burkie, she may go missing in brick lane and become a new starter.
Ashes this may be a trip too far lol! But if you could wangle a work trip we could work around you.
Chippy can bring his new Lear jet so no excuse. Haven't seen Bobshep for an age but hopeful he'd been around too.
Bondsy will be first through the door, waiting with knife and fork in hand!
Shame Jayk is no longer around, but Wrighty and ANTKB can be my liutenants in this if they have the time to round people up.
DITM may have trouble in customs with his blunderbuster.
As for the rest, would be great to have a pint, so let me know.
Nev, did I say this means you too?!!

Is it my sceptical side coming out? Is it my age?

Thursday night we hear about a tweet from an agent who looks after both Billic and Payet, claiming we have signed Payet only to retract the tweet and to claim 'my account was hacked'. He then went on to say that he would let us know news the following day, but nothing was forthcoming. Now I have just read the following article:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham/11689135/West-H...

So is this a case of the agent playing games to bump up the deal as the player and his club know how serious we are about signing him so they bump up the asking price? After all the rumours/opinions about our previous managers connections with agents and players this is the last thing we need in my opinion and it doesn't help. Your opinions please?
