Positivity

Submitted by Walks68 on Sat, 20/06/2015 - 12:07

I have to admit on balance I was probably in favour of sticking with Allardyce, however now he has gone I am liking the positivity from the club, chairmen, various articles and supporters. it will make a change following wh this year where most of the fans support the manager. This support will make a lot of difference to the performances as well.looking forward to the start of the season

So our last season at "The Old Lady" is almost upon us so it got me wondering... I posted this question on my West Ham facebook page (The Anglo-Scottish Hammers, follow West Ham) and await the replies so here goes, at the seasons end say Mssrs Sullivan and Gold decided to auction parts of the Boleyn and funds go to the BM fund what would you bid for? maybe if you are a season tkt holder you could purchase your seat or possibly a piece of turf, so ladies and gents what about you (personally of poss I would buy a seat to put in the garden...

Spurs and Right Backs

Submitted by IusedtosupportSpurs on Fri, 19/06/2015 - 17:58

Just seen they have signed Trippier (Burnley) who although I have to confess I dont know a lot about but a few on here seem to rate him highly.

But have they (dont pay an awful lot of attention to them) not got the current England right back?!

They also signed De Andre Yedlin who looked absolutely superb for the USA in the World Cup last year and he was making appearances for them towards the end of the season so you have to think they have hopes for him.

Have to say that on that basis the signing doesnt make much sense. For club OR PLAYER!!!

Im sure money wont have been a million miles away from his decision but strange never the less from both parties!!!

Look Behind You, It's Dimitri Payet! Oh No It Isn't, Oh Yes It Is!

It is neither Christmas, nor the Pantomime season, but that doesn't stop a good West Ham story does it? Dimitri Payet has been linked with a move to the club for the past couple of weeks, it had been reported that West Ham had lodged an improved offer for the Marseille midfielder, having had an initial £7.5 Million offer turned down, (where do people get these figures?).
Enter stage left the agent, audience boo and hiss, co-owners take umbrage, why? Imagine a parent, one who has spent a fortune on getting a long awaited 'quality' present for their child at Christmas, only for some meddling Aunt to announce not only that a special present was going to arrive, but what was in it!
Cue the two David's, Sullivan and Gold, West Ham United's co-owners, they have 'worked tirelessly' to bring in a quality player, one who will thrill the fans, it was all set up to be another special event, and then the Agent could not resist letting his fingers do the talking.
Football agent and good friend of Slaven Billic, Muzzi Ozcan, claimed on Twitter that Dimitri Payet had signed for West Ham. Ozcan, who also revealed that Billic had agreed terms with the Hammers the day before the club made the official announcement, tweeted the following announcement at 00:47am: "I can confirm that Dimitri Payet has signed for West Ham wish both parties a successful era." Ozcan swiftly deleted the announcement, and later tweeted that his account had in fact been hacked although he also 'liked' a tweet that inferred he had broken the story too soon, it now seems inevitable that Payet is about to be 'revealed' by the club.
The 'two daves' have made their feelings crystal clear about future 'revelations', after all, it's their sweet shop and their ball! -Ed

Fixture list and next season

Submitted by Chippy Dave on Thu, 18/06/2015 - 21:50

After seeing the new fixture list it makes you realise that there are actually no easy games, once you get outside of the top 5 or 6 I don't think there's a great deal between any of the remaining teams, yes you could say that the newly promoted sides should be the bottom 3 but even they won't be easy to beat particularly on their ground, teams that you could say would be lower half teams, the likes of West Brom, Stoke or Villa will be better next season, perhaps Leicester and Newcastle may struggle a bit but it certainly makes you realise that finishing in the top half for any of the non top 4 sides is no mean feat really, I think we need some points on the board early on to settle the nerves, hopefully we'll pick up a point or 3 at the Emirates to start us off!

New kit

So the new kit is upon us in a few hours time.
Over the years I've grown to attach more importance to the kit we wear. Our sponsor is usually a joke or a firm on the brink of insolvency so lets disregard that.
The kit design however can say much about a side. Have we let some snotty post grad design architect loose or have we thought about it?
The adverts today suggest the affiliation to 1904 (our first season at the Boleyn) and I worry.
I'm all for drawing on the past, but I cannot abide round necks and laces on the chest. I really hope it doesn't look like that. I remember Villa having something similar and they looked like refugee pirates.
Also lapels are horrid, so I hope we don't see that. We don't need anything flapping in our faces as we pursue total football.
A classic 60s design, ala Bobby Moore in his pomp would do me. Claret body, blue sleeves, white shorts, white socks.
Less is more and the fans will mop it up.
Look like clowns, play like.....

Competition

Hi
Not sure is this is something MADHAMMER could incorporate into the site but how does everyone feel about a monthly prediction competition?
Could make it as simple as predicting the number of points we'll pick up each month or incorporate scores as well. Bonus points for your early season prediction coming true of the number of points we'll collect and where we'll finish in the league.
Maybe we could even have a Champions Badge presented to the winner at the end.
I've put my early thoughts together based on blind optimism, faith and he I shall no longer name crushing early season dreams.

Are we actually going in for him?

Also who are these two signings Sullivan touted by the end of the week?

I thought Remy & Jenkinson but I'm not so sure now.. Any thoughts?

those big away games

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 17/06/2015 - 10:30

i hope in Bilic we have a manager that finally goes into some of these away games with a plan to win the game instead of this defeatist approach i've been seeing from the likes of allardyce, zola etc. yes the teams are tough, yes they have better players than us but please for goodness sake lets give it a go at liverpool away, arsenal away, chelsea etc etc. we had zola who talked the team to defeat before we'd kicked off, then grant who was clueless all round, and then allardyce who simply shut up shop or attempted to every away game. i want a manager to work out a way to play well away and at least give it a go so please Bilic get this sorted. southampton and swansea is the example i'd like to follow….they go out and give it a go regardless of who they play. why all this fear factor and lack of ideas from managers? I'm actually looking forward to the big away games, a new manager brings fresh hope….will it last? we will see.
