More Off The Wages Bill As Maiga Does A Runner!

Modibo Maiga's spurious departure from West Ham to Al Nasser has at least helped balance the books. Hammers will save £3 Million in wages alone, while the player and his new club will face FIFA sanctions if Maiga plays before his ITC comes through. West Ham are in a particularly strong situation and will milk the law that says a contracted player cannot move from one club to another without agreement of all parties concerned.
Maiga's cheeky departure will have only exacerbated the need to bring in at least two more strikers before tuesday's transfer dead line! - Ed

Recruitment

Now I know we are mentioned as being interested in lots of players every season but, surely now we have a much improved selling point with the projected growth and our future intentions? So despite, yet again, being linked with even more players than normal this season, why do we find ourselves with only one proven decent signing? Some of the other signings may prove to be positives but the lack of proven high quality players is a worry. We are even struggling with the Song deal apparently, yet we were told the deal is 'in place', and I hope this proven to be the case. Bilic wasn't even in the Top 3 targets and we are now looking at signing players on the final day who have struggled for years and been sent out on loan regularly or fallen out with management/clubs. Surely the club needs to address the approach to how we recruit staff in the future, as it clearly isn't working in my opinion. Your thoughts?

He looks tired and fed up in his interviews. Anyone else think he's fed up with the board perhaps regarding transfers? Downing, song and nolan gone. Make what you will of their abilities but fact is they were two first teamers last season. I'd say we need 3 or 4 players in and quality ones. Not the bartons and loanees but some class. Other teams are getting them, leicester, stoke, villa, swansea, newcastle and palace to name a few. We're in danger of being left with what we have and for a new manager trying to put some new ideas across imo this will be concerning. Thoughts?

So King Kev-Chicken Kiev-Nobby Nolan Departs, An Analysis

Lots of media coverage about Kevin Nolan's departure from West Ham United, here is a player who was given a ridiculously long five year contract on his transfer from Newcastle United, courtesy of Sam Allardyce, sanctioned by the Hammers hierarchy. If 'Nobby' had had a cockney accent and not been directly associated with Sam Allardyce, then it is quite safe to assume he would have gone down as one of West Ham United's best captains, his presence and stabilising powers were omnipresent during his initial tenure as captain. In fact for the first two and a half years he was absolutely phenomenal, both on and off the pitch, sadly his energetic approach began to be exposed as he lost that all important 'yard'. Once that 'beasty' was exposed King Kev went on to become chicken kiev and a side of coleslaw, he became a snarling angry man who realised the top flight game was up. So now that is out of the way, possibly it is time to remember the good times and wish Kev well in the future. He managed to jump the match of the day cameras, without injuring himself, during a goal celebration which they used for a complete season, something Andy Carroll could not have done without sustaining at least a three month lay off as he crashed ' unfortunately and accidentally in to the camera man. As mentioned before, Nobby was always going to be tarred with the same brush as Big Sam, but he put in a shift, apart from the odd xmas red card that is. If Nolan had only been offered a four year contract, instead of a five, he probably would not have left the Toon, it is a bit of a pity, because if last season had been his last at the Boleyn , then he would undoubtedly have received the praise and lauding that he deserved as a player, a professional and as far as we have gathered a thoroughly decent person. This site, among many others, was not slow to criticise Kevin Nolan, but he was one of the few players aspiring youngsters should respect, and one of the very few they should aspire to, and he possibly the only one of the very, very few most players would envy.
Good on you Nobby! - Ed

Some posts appearing on Facebook that Kevin Nolan has left the club after being paid off. Not sure if this is true or not.

Well then, Nolans been Paid Off!

Looks like Kevin Nolans been paid off. Got to be honest poor player and for half a season did his job on the field aswell as off the field. One of our better captains but poorest players, hope he does well at his new club, who ever that may be. Am getting worried about our squad depth though.
