Left Field Options Limited For Moyes
This article is definitely NOT an I told you so moment, the paucity of Hammers squad is rather historical now, as there is nothing that can be practically done before the January window opens, or is there? The left side of Hammers defence, so long a paragon of meanness, has been dismantled of late, to paraphrase Oscar Wilde “'To lose one may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness.”!
Coping without 'the Angel' Ogbonna was a difficult enough task on its own, but losing Aaron 'he with the manicured hair' Cresswell has presented David Moyes with a problem which he would far prefer not to have. Left footed players have always been at a premium, an understandable fact as only one in eight people are naturally left sided, it is possible to be 'converted', the problem being when push comes to shove the naturally right footed player will always revert to type.
This manifests itself when for example, a player is on the left flank and is due to cross the ball into the box, a left footed player can make the cross without breaking stride, whereas a right footed player has to cut back before he can make the cross. It seems like a small margin, but it is on small margins that David Moyes' team tactics are based, sudden counter attacks with a pin point ball smashed in to the box, usually by Aaron Cresswell, usually with a pass out of defence from Angelo Ogbonna.
The Angel is out for the rest of the season, fortunately Cresswell will be available for the incredibly important London Derby against Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime at the London Bowl, but what about the left imbalance? We at the Org are on the verge of kidnapping David Moyes until he plays Issa 'I can play with both feet' Diop alongside Kurt Zouma.
It is not as if Ogbonna's deputy Craig Dawson has done much wrong, it is just that Diop is more dynamic, and while he WILL have a mistake in him, so what? Moyes has recently played Authur Masuaku and he definitely DOES have a mistake in him, so what is the difference?
Come on Moysie, climb down from your horse for a minute to help see the wood from the trees, if not you might be in danger of not seeing the weather for the stormy seas! - Ed

What an absolute disgrace of a decision. From the angle's they had there is NO WAY in hell you can determine if that "brushed" Antonio's ankle. No deviation in direction of the ball whatsoever and if you're looking at it for as long as you are surely, surely the attacking team is given the benefit of the doubt.

Hammers take on Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Bowl this evening in a game that they really need to win in order to halt the alarming run of recent defeats, the problem being the Seagulls are the South Coast's 'nemesis' for the Irons and have always proved to be obdurate opposition, particularly when Glenn Murray was still playing for them.
Thankfully Murray won't be lining up for Graham potter's side this evening, because he has retired, but those who remain know they have the 'monkey sign' over West Ham and will do their best to exploit their historical superiority. Fresh off the back of a couple of damaging defeats David Moyes has to juggle his 'assets' like never before if he is to negotiate 'Murder Month'.
Although he is going to have a late fitness test, it is unlikely that Aaron Cresswell will start, his place will probably be taken by the versatile Ben Johnson as opposed to Authur Masuaku, due to the fact that 'King Authur' is essentially pants as a defender.
As Moyes is obviously a 'Les' fan, Dawson will start alongside Kurt Zouma and there is a strong possibility that Manu Lnzizni will get the nod ahead of Said Benrahma. In an ideal world Moyes would be able to take Tona Soucek out of the firing line and replace him with Alex Kral, but for some reason the Hammers manager doesn't seem to fancy the Czech Republic International.

New to the site. Was hoping to go to first West Ham game of my life this weekend but this new covid variant screwed up those plans. Have to two tickets to the Chelsea game that are in Block 136, Row 23, Seats 267 and 268. Just want to get these tickets to a true West Ham supporter and recoup some of my investment.

Rest Cress To Avoid The Mess!
Aaron Cresswell is due to face a late fitness test ahead of the 'must win' game at home to Brighton on early Wednesday evening, the unusual 7:30 PM kick off being part of Amazon, the game's broadcaster's deal that was struck with the Premier league. Cress of course did his best to dismantle one of the goal posts at the Etihad, with his BACK!
With a massive raft of games approaching in quick succession, David Moyes will be forced to make difficult decisions, some of which may seem baffling to those not involved at first hand. Cresswell's injury, on top of losing Angelo Ogbonna for the rest of the season, has threatened to derail Hammers unlikely Champions League charge.
If there is ANY doubt as to Cresswell's fitness for the game then Moyes HAS to make a change, he could bring in Vladimir Coufal to play at his accustomed right back position and play the versatile Ben Johnson at left back. Not ideal, but it could be worse given the circumstances.
If Johnson plays on the left, Moyes may well bring young Harrison Ashby in to the squad to be one of the Matchday substitutes, he could join Authur Masuaku in reserve. 'King Authur' cannot be depended upon as a 'proper' left back, but he does offer something different with his outrageous ball control when transitioning out of defence.
Chelsea are up next, with the match being an early kick off to satisfy that game's broadcaster BT Sport, there is only a two day and a few hours period between each fixture, so risking a vital player like Aaron Cresswell might be a gamble too far, the club might be able to cope with losing him for a game or two, but any more than that could have serious repercussions in more ways than one! - ED

Injuries to Said Benrahma ans Aaron Cresswell were the double whammy cost of taking on Manchester City at the Etihad yesterday, the 2-1 loss was Hammers 2nd Premier League defeat in a row. Benrahma injured his ankle but didn't look too uncomfortable when he left the field to be replaced by Manu Lanzini.
More of a concern was the fitness of Aaron Cresswell following his high speed collision with the post as he made a last ditch goal line clearance. Anyone who has suffered a back impact trauma will tell you that your body's initial reaction is to go into 'limp mode', essentially your back locks up until it believes it is safe to 'proceed' again.
This morning will be the earliest opportunity to appraise the injury fully, but one guarantee is that Cresswell's back is going to hurt like a 'matriarchal fornicator' and will need at least a cortisone injection in order to 'unlock', painful is an understatement!
The fact that Aaron was able to walk off the pitch, albeit very gingerly, is a cause for some optimism, tests will quickly show whether the ever present defender will be available for the next crucial game, home to Brighton on Wednesday evening.
If Aaron Cresswell isn't fit enough David Moyes will undoubtedly switch Ben Johnson over to the left and reinstate Vlad the Impaler Coufal as right back, although injuries have been expected they are not welcome, particularly on the left side of the pitch!
Brighton are no mugs, getting a good result against the Seagulls on Wednesday has just become that little bit more important now. -ED
