Just to give an opportunity to break from the monotony of the striker theme, what do people thinking about our coaching staff? I sit very close to the bench on match days and Chris Woods and especially Julian Dicks don't say or do anything. Now maybe they do a lot more at training but I get the feeling not. I feel that Dicks especially is totally token gesture. That's fine if you're successful, but he's taking the place of someone who might add something. Jurcevic is basically to Slav what Phil Neal was to Graham Taylor. Then we've got a 35 year-old first team coach who played a bit of lower league. Where's the debate? Where's the other opinion coming from? Surrounding yourself with a load of yes men is great if it all goes well, look at Conte and Mourinho but not if you're struggling

Joe hart to be thrown a lifeline by west ham mmmm he is a very average keeper IMO always said it and yesterday against scotland did not prove me wrong....i no you like him dicksy and think he could offer something to the team but i just see errors and mistakes from him..yes he will pull off some mind blowing saves but he as i have mentioned just makes to many mistakes for me....also we are now linked with giroud again mmmm unless we managed to offload carroll why would we buy giroud? who lets face it suffers more than his fair share of injuries...oh all the fun of the rumour mill makes for some fun in the long weeks ahead and on wed morning when the fixtures are released we will see just how good/bad it will be for us with 3 away games on the bounce? watford/chelski/leicester? be a nice 3 as we will need to get a few points on the board before the first home game but knowing our luck it will be citeh/arsenal/manure!

And so it begins. I'm a few hours time a lady drawn by Quentin Blake will be confirmed overlord for the foreseeable. Lots of posturing and sound bites. Much like many of us have seen before. But little will change (although you think it might).

Well, those of us that continue to pull up our socks have to find a path. Our fear it's one with much uncertainty.
How to counter? Obviously the cowardly way is drugs or drug or whatever the poison that allows you to escape ownership, drift and remind yourself of a eutopia that never really existed....or did it?
I'm fearful of the terrorists we've helped breed and dragged from stones, I'm fearful of the extreme intolerant right who know only one way to counter. I'm fearful of the internet that has created 65m soapboxes, all of whom are right. I'm fearful of the speed of vitriol that can be spewed upon people in seconds. I'm fearful of how many people walk along with the eyes glued to a plastic box in their hand.
But hey, chin up. We've signed a decent right back.

I'm on record as saying the Hammers should spend big to get Iheanacho and/or Batsuayi this Summer. But such a move would cost them. Meanwhile you see reports of the sort that say, West Ham should sign "Goal-Scoring Beast" Steve Mounie from Montpelier for £13M, instead of Batsuayi. That's small change in the current market, in which a defender like Southampton's Virgil Van Dijk is valued at £50M. But interestingly, Van Dijk himself was signed for £13M. And looking back over a host of players who now command ginormous transfer fees, it seems clear that the best VALUE to be had in the transfer market is in the £10M-£20M range. Of course these transfers are generally a bigger gamble than paying out big on a proven commodity, but when they work out, it is the best value for a club. This makes me understand better the temptation that SUGO have to look for bargain deals, but is it worth the gamble?

Just read about Roy Larne (news now UK) Respect !!! Love his new name as Lion of London Bridge... Love the picture of the running magazine someone gave him too!. This is the type of headlines that people here (US) don't get... How the English stand up and fight without the red white and blue flapping in their ears.. The fight that won two world wars where 1/3 of the globe was shown in pink, and the sun never set on the British Empire. You don't hear of the Roys of England too much, but the world better know they are there!!!!

so the transfer window soon to open and of the many names mentioned and tenuous links to players the most noise coming out is about the club looking hard at striking options with nacho and bats being mentioned on a regular basis...now of course it would be stupid not to expect competition for players like this but I wonder just how serious we are about trying to get these players in?? according to reports coming out of chelski it is not a loan they want for bats but a full transfer and you will be looking at £35million+ so when push comes to shove will our club put up that kind of money for him plus the rumoured £25million for nacho?...being linked with such players makes good copy and entices we the fan to part with money for season tickets etc but sadly seeing is believing and already I can hear we tried to get them but because of FFP we could not do it,cynical yes without doubt but don't I/we have good reason to be.....hopefully I/we are proved wrong but until I see the players signed I will not be enticed by the smoke and mirrors that are used by the board.
Why On Earth Would Hammers Sell Pedro Obiang?
'Cash rich' Everton are reportedly sniffing around for Pedro Obiang, apparently they are not alone with AC Milan and Sevilla also interested in luring the combative midfielder and defender to their clubs. Obiang has two years left on his contract following his £4.3 Million transfer from Sampdoria. Initially Obiang found himself more often as a squad player or a bench warmer, but more recently became a permanent fixture in the starting line up. Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants Obiang as a replacement for James McCarthy and to provide support for Idrissa Gueye. 25 year old Obiang is in his prime and although offers in excess of £15 Million have been mooted why on earth would West Ham take the money in order to make a £10 Million profit when they would then have to replace him with an insanely new money player? Make no mistake, player values are going to sky rocket because of all the extra TV money that will be swilling around, finding a player on a par to Obiang would probably cost £25 Million, so once again why sell? It is not as if the club needs the money!

Lewin Replaces The 'Stig'
Gary Lewin has been announced as West Ham United's new Head of Medical Services, Lewin arrives at the London Stadium having previously combined 22 years as first team physiotherapist at Arsenal with 18 as England’s physio, the last six as England Senior Head of Physiotherapy. The 53-year-old was born in East Ham and spent time on West Ham’s books as a schoolboy goalkeeper, before turning to physiotherapy full-time at the age of 19.
Lewin replaces Stijn Vandenbroucke who has left the Club to 'pursue a new challenge.' Vandenbroucke initially joined the club as a first team physiotherapist in 2009, spending three seasons on the backroom staff under Gianfranco Zola, Avram Grant and Sam Allardyce, he has worked under Slaven Bilic for the past two seasons. Joint-Chairman David Sullivan thanked Vandenbroucke for his more than six years of service to the club adding "We all have enjoyed working with Stijn and wish him and his family all the best."
Vandenbroucke's departure could not come soon enough for many West Ham fans who felt that the club's players were experiencing injuries to an extent that was barely believable, in fact sometimes it seemed as if he was trying to re-invent Old 'Arrry's down to the bare bones and take it to a new level! The arrival of Lewin might end up being the equivalent a signing a couple of top players, although Arsenal's past injury record doesn't make too comfortable a viewing!
On the subject of top players, how refreshing was it to hear the positive comments coming from Pablo Zabaleta ahead of his donning of the Claret and Blue, he is a top top player and will show Sam Byram what it is all about, unlike the waste of space that was Arbeloa. Quality, not quantity is what the club need to consolidate and move forward! - Ed
