True Sportsmen, Payet And Hart
In among the action of what turned out to be a memorable match between West Ham United and Manchester City, one of the last few remaining at the Boleyn Ground or Upton Park as commentators insist on calling it, there was a moment that was lost to most of the media and observers, it was similar to when Pele and Bobby Moore embraced following their epic duel in the Mexico World Cup, each the absolute definition of perfection in their footballing role. Their affinity was borne of total respect, the appreciation of a true artist, and such was the respect shown by Joe Hart and Dimitri Payet to each other as they left the pitch at half time of what eventually was a hard fought draw that either side could have won and had both managers bemoaning their luck. It took a moment of brilliance from England's number one keeper to deny Payet what would have been the goal that he thought was surely in, and that is why they were both able to rise above the bar of professional rivalry, and also rise above their own pride! The bloated and infected Barclays Premier League needs more of the same. - Ed
February Points Tally

Ok with just the FA Cup game at Anfield to go this month, January has gifted us 7 points from our 5 league games. This is the 4th 7point haul month this season. (As an aside I tipped every game wrong back in June).
After the trip to Anfield we face 3 teams in the bottom 4 in Villa, Norwich and Sunderland and a trip to Southampton. Now I have us down for 3 wins and a loss from those 4 games but looking at the gap opening between the top 4 and the rest and the awful performances of Manure, Febrouary, on paper, offers us the best chance of securing a full points tally with the way we are playing.
Unfortunately our performances against the teams in the lower half of the table are in stark contrast to the teams in the top and with draws against Villa and Sunderland and Norwich and a win agast southampton (Tips from June for those 3 wins are against the teams we drew with).

Was the bloke who did the Dream Team ratings in the Sun actually watching the game. No Hammers players, not one above 7 out of 10. He gave our mid-field trio 6 each, but the two City Centre halves 7. Is he completely deluded ? He also gave two goal Valencia 7, but 2 goal Aguero 9. But the one that was totally ridiculous was Payett got a 7. I'm almost speechless !!

Every Cloud Has A Silva Lining, Byram Take A Bow
Every cloud has a silver lining, so the expression goes, and thirteen is supposed to be unlucky, so it must have been with great trepidation that Sam Byram, who had just completed his move from Leeds United, took to the stage at the Boleyn yesterday on the thirteenth minute to replace Arsenal loanee Carl Jenkinson in the enthralling 2 - 2 draw against Manchester City. Byram was not supposed to even be at the club, yet alone making his debut in such a high profile match, originally the club weren't even going to buy him until the summer. Of course the match was settled by a brace of goals from Enner Valencia from the Hammers and Sergio Aguero for City, but Byram's contribution cannot be underestimated. The young, but highly experienced defender took to the 'crucible' of a world wide television audience like a proverbial duck to water, he clearly grew in stature as the game wore on and as testimony to his ability managed to keep David Silva in his pocket, the City flier being replaced in the 83rd minute to help run down the clock.
The sight of expensive loanee Jenkinson hobbling off having just conceded his third penalty of the season (more than any other player in the barclays premier league!) would usually be a portent for impending disaster, but this is a new West Ham who have a manager who does not know the meaning of his team being beaten before they even step on the pitch, unlike many others, big name teams have hold no fear over him, in fact he seems to relish taking on the 'big boys' and thoroughly testing them. Man management is a complicated situation when players command such huge money, dealing with their collective ego's and demands takes a special type of manger, and Billic is that in spades! He took time out to heap praise upon the much maligned Enner Valencia ,who is finally living up to his reputation and proving that he has at last begun to deal with the 'physicality' of the Premier League.
“We didn’t talk about Enner since the beginning of the season, only because he got injured before the start of the season.“His quality has always been sky high and not only goals,everything. His contribution, he’s great in the air, he’s got a great touch and he’s torturing the defences that have to play against him.“He deserved this kind of performance." Long may it continue. - Ed

Calling out all,"Be careful what you wish for" merchants. Where are you? This is what we wished for. Matching a ridiculously assembled team like City, who can bring on a £50 million sub. This was the best game I've paid to watch for years. It's why I hated last season, because I knew this is what I wanted to watch. Special mentions to Noble, Song and Kouyate, they made Yaya look like Kolo an Silva was anonymous. Delph and Navas look like a waste of money. Forget Jenkinson, Byram was brilliant. He walked into a game with Champions elect and looked composed and like he's been there for years. The best game THIS SEASON for Valencia he ran himself ragged. But to Payet. He's better than Di Canio, there I said it. His ability is ridiculous, he was the best player by far on the pitch. I want to watch him play because he is why people pay to go and watch games. He gave the ball away once today, formidable. Everyone was an 8/10 or above. The only exceptions were Jenkinson, poor again and looks like he wants out. Moses also was really poor. When he came on I thought, good substitution, he'll give Byram a bit of support and keep the ball higher up the pitch. He did neither and I can't blame Bilic because other than that because he was faultless. Hearing the fans sing players and the mangers names again is beautiful. I don't fear anybody and if we keep playing like this we will easily fill the OS. Welcome home West Ham, you've found your way back. #dontgiveupNev
One Point Gained, Or Two Points Lost? Is This The End?
An enthralling match at the Boleyn ended with Chek Kayoute clipping the bar as West Ham nearly did the double over Champions elect Manchester City, in all honesty a draw was probably a fair result, but yet again Slaven Billic managed to guide his side to a creditable if not totally satisfying draw. In a way it is a testament to how far Hammers have progressed that there is a feeling of discontent among fans that this game did not end up with three points in the bag! Never the less, this was a stoic performance from a West Ham team still devoid of the attacking option and talents of Manuel Lanzii, Diafra Sakho and Andy Carrolll, all three of which could walk in to the starting line up of any of the Barclays Premier League's top teams. We endured yet another cyber attack yesterday and today, there are some dirty deeds being done, we believe they emanate from a particular source and will pursue satisfaction with regards to damages we have sustained, through the courts if necessary, it doesn't matter about cost anymore, this is about principles, we have had enough!. - Ed
PS: It was particularly galling to see KUMB voted as the best West Ham forum this year, because for over ten years the Org was universally acknowledged as the best in the world, then we had our server destroyed and the domain was taken over without my consent. There are many new sites available, and i am of the opinion that maybe it is time that they took over, i hate dealing with google and all the corporates which is why the Org has no adverts, but i cannot afford to keep it going. - Ed
