Pelle Pay Off Inevitable

Well, he was a 'dead man walking' in managerial terms, but the timing of Manuel Pellegrini's sacking as West Ham manager will raise a few eyebrows, not least because one of the prime candidates to take over at the London Stadium is the manager of the club's next opponents, Bournemouth, who themselves are deep in a relegation battle!

Quite who want to take over the poisoned chalice that is West Ham United is a cause of some conjecture, David Moyes would be a safe pair of hands, and is available now that Carlo Ancelloti has filled the vacancy at Everton. He would not be the fans' ideal choice, furthermore he didn't exactly part on good terms with the Hammers hierarchy following his previous six months of tenure after having replaced the sacked Slaven Billic.

The irony of the fact that Billlic's Baggies may well be going up from the Championship at the same time as the Hammers go down from the Barclays Premier League has not been lost by many fans, indeed there were many ahead of Pelle getting the chop who suggested Billic would be welcomed back with open arms, presumably not the ones who were calling for his head before he was sacked.

Who ever does come in will find a group of disparate and desperate players, there is talent there, but there needs to be a whole lot of 'shaking' to go on before they can play to a level that they should be playing at, a little commitment from the entire team instead of just one or two individuals wouldn't go amiss either!

The Press willl be having a field day, the question is, have the club left it too late to bring a fresh face in? Answers on a postcard please c/o useless recruting, london stadium, stratford, they will probably arrive at the same time that Pellegrini and his back room staff receive a massive settlement, for failing, only in the World of football could that generally happen, in most other walks of life failue is met with dismissal, with no generous pay offs. - Ed

Who ate all the pies?

In England football is divided between the "haves" and the have yachts. Similarly here in South Africa we have a couple of "big monied" clubs while the rest survive on the proverbial shoestring. Cape Town City are a club that fall into the latter category, but over the last couple of seasons they have been punching above their weight, winning two domestic cups and flying high in the league.
Cape Town are managed by... You know him, you love him... He's our very own Benniiii McCarthy. Yay!
I say "are" that should be "were" because Benni and the board have recently parted company, citing "professional differences" . I believe Benni wanted to take the club to the next level, the board also wanted that but without spending any money. Benni is believed to have had a great rapport with his players and everyone loved the style of football they were playing.
I have seen him interviewed on TV and he speaks fondly of his days at West Ham so maybe our search for Pelegrini's replacement is over.

Are we gonna get spanked or what?

Leicester on a rebound and we'll probably put the rebound in our own net cos thats the kind of season we're having, right?

Will wake up for it as I wake every day at 5.30am, but not too sure I'll get up for it IYKWIM

Would like to say TTFN t the manager but who comes in to replace him...Ah I know, someone with half an idea...any of us could do it surely?
I'd do it for half his price, too...

Love to hear your thoughts.

when good managers turn bad

what is it with managers these days? I know its all a results business in the prem, but come on, managers cant improve team performances from season to season? look at bilic, great season, we're all impressed, then it goes pear shaped next season and he looks like the laziest guy in town unable to inspire or motivate the club mascot let alone the players. you can blame the players, but managers like Howe and Dyche are able to drag their players out of slumps, season after season. so the proof is there. Pellegrini is Bilic all over again - good start, now he sits slumped in the chair talking to his seemingly lifeless assistant and shrugging his shoulders anytime we throw games away.

wtf is this all about? I can accept bad performances now and then, they happen mainly due to the opponent doing a job on us etc, but one thing the likes of Harry and Pardew (well perhaps he went the same at the end) could do was lay into them after and get a reaction next few games.

is it the foreign player mercenary mentality? things going wrong but he doesn't care, he only cares about his hair and where his next big pay day is going to be? perhaps, but in my view this is why the club pays mega bucks to the manager to get in there and sort this sort of thing out.

we're one place above the relegation zone, half way through the season ffs. our recruitment looks utter pants as I refer you to Roberto, Anderson (attitude problems), yarmalenko/wiltshire (crocks), haller (good but cant be expected to shoulder the burden).

I dreaded hearing the news today that pellegrini has another 'two' games to save his job. I did think he was worth keeping after the Chelsea and Southampton results but its one step forward and four back. and he seems unbothered as if its a case of the players aren't up to his standard.

Ancelotti has pitched up at Everton, obviously promised money to burn but he's full of energy and enthusiasm, just a love for the challenge. with pellegrini he looks like a pensioner who's given up on life.

and now what? we get rid and appoint Moyes again? like we should've just stuck with the guy in the first place. that said, is he really the answer for us? what about Dyche then? basic, primitive football but gets it to work. is he big enough to push the club to top 8 etc? I think we need to find a Nuno but would the board ever take a risk.

What Is It About Irons Players And Crashed Lambo's?

Barclays Premier League Footballers have a predilection for buying expensive sports cars, and the players at West Ham are no exceptions, but what is perhaps relevant is that Hammers players tend to crash their's more than others!

Michail Antonio has just joined Diafra Sakho and Dimitri Payet in the 'crash a Lamborghini club', fortunately the 'beast' was neither at fault nor rendered incapable at the time of the crash and has been able to join up with the rest of the squad for the crucial Boxing Day match against London rivals Crystal Palace.

Obviously players are entitled to 'invest' in high profile items, after all they earned the money to pay for them, and to be fair it should be remembered that all Premier League clubs are legally bound to pay their players in the UK and not to off shore bank accounts, consequently 50% of their earnings go straight to the treasury.

However, in these difficult times, and especially as a footballer at a club that is not doing so well, perhaps it would be more prudent to use a 'driver service' to get around rather that an ostentatious sports car, the enhanced situation would have the added bonus of the player and club not having to worry about consuming the odd drink or two around the festive period.

In America high profile sports people have contracts that they are made to sign excluding them from driving themselves around for the duration of their contracts, isn't it about time clubs did the same in England?

It would serve two purposes, to ensure the safety of the players, but also to fend off resentment, that said, if Manuel Pellegrini can motivate his players enough to earn three points at Palace fans won't care what they are driving! - Ed

Transfer Strategy

Worried about the rumour surrounding Diop and the spuds after reading the following.
'West Ham are keen on signing Spanish central defender Unai Nunez, 22, from Athletic Bilbao'.My question is why?if we are going to have to get rid of a central defender then surely we have to be looking at moving on Reid/Balbuena as harsh as it sounds they are a lot older and one still to be tested after a long term injury,if we did sell Diop even for £50million i would be pissed off as it smacks of Bilic balls up when he sold Tomkins to Palace.Look at the problems we are now seeing at Right back as a fan we were all aware that Zabaletta needed replacing again simply because age in this sport has caught up with him but here we are scratching around to get a replacement for him,Now you hear that El Pel whats another winger errr why? we have enough players who can play wide throughout the squad and why the hell does he not accept that Masuaku is a shit defender but out wide up the pitch he looks decent and can put a good cross in but again because as a club and a transfer strategy that is way out off kilt we never seem to address what we need it just seems a scatter gun approach and if its a name that catches the boards eye and one they can sell to the fans then who cares if its a position we have plenty of competition for.
