  • Champions league na give me the playoffs any day

    Champons league pfff who honestly cares...i had the day of yesterday:-) and after a bit of gardening and catching up on jobs i did not know needed doing(all us married guys no what i mean!)i sat down for a feast of football....the Wrexham Grimsby national league playoff semi final was one of the best games of football i have seen in a long time it had everything and without the use of VAR it was a total joy to watch officials mistakes and all what a cracking game of football in front of loyal passionate supporters of both clubs it finished 4-5 to Grimsby and may i ad that Grimsby played away at Notts county monday night went to extra time and won so they could play Wrexham and they had to do the same yesterday but no mention of the players being tired etc funny that.The league two play off final may of had a one sided result with Port Vale winning 3-0 but again a cracking game of football in front of a passionate crowd.....then last nights offering in the champions league it did not compare i'm afraid IMO and todays championship playoff final in a packed Wembley should be a great match who will win its to close to call but give me a playoff game anyday over a champions league game.

    Just how long does it take to sign a player? yes i understand it is not like going to buy a new car but come on how long? look at villa they have identified who they want and got them already same as the bindippers so if they can do it why can't we?.

    Nayef Aguerd allegedly been in talks and close to signing and yet nothing appears to of happened why?you hear the excuses like the transfer windows not open yet the players still under contract until end of June etc etc......well those are just technicallities you cannot tell me that footballers there agents and managers at clubs not already ironed out those creases ready to make the deal so all sides happy from the selling club to the buying club and the player.

    We always seem to be treading water and yes whilst the seasons only been over a week if you stand still for a moment is this game your opponents will steal things right from under your nose so come on lets be a bit more lively.

  • Will Rob Make A New Man Out Of Moyes?

    This coming transfer window will be the most important the club has faced since it's move from the Boleyn Ground to the Queen Elizabeth Park Stadium, new head of recruitment has FINALLY been freed up to do the role he was brought to West Ham for originally from serial Premier League winners Manchester City!

    Rob Newman can NOW work in tandem with manager David Moyes safe in the knowledge that REAL FUNDS are now available as the two of them set about recruiting and promoting as many as NINE players to the first team squad, we mention 'real funds' because for once this window Hammers are 'cash rich' meaning they won't have to offer ridiculous HP over a contract's lengths based deals and if neccessary and prudent pay ALL of the transfer fees required UP FRONT which will enable them to head the queue for transfer targets instead of waiting for the scraps.

    New shareholder and eventual full owner of the club Daniel Kretinsky, despite the War in the Ukraine has 'liquid assets' in excess of £750 Million per year to 'utilise', that is not to say he will spend it ALL on West Ham, but it DOES mean funds ARE available when needed, NOT the usual GSB smoke and mirrors late bid rumours fans have become accustomed to.

    One of the first deals Moyes and Newman are hoping to get over the line is one for Rennes central defender Nayef Aguerd, apparently both clubs have agreed a fee and the player's wage demands are not excessive so a deal is close to being agreed for the 26 year old Morrocan International Aguerd, who is a left-sided centre back and has long been identified as a primary target.

    For EVERY player signed for a fee there will be at least one in kind signed on a 'free' transfer, although the word free is a little ambiguous given some of the signing on and agent fees that can suddenly be involved as club's jockey to offer the most incentivised terms within their particular budgets.

    Jesse Lingard looks as if he might finally link up with Moyes again, perhaps a year too late but still a welcome addition, hopefully 'Lings' will be joined by one or two other free signings as well as the permanent signing of Alphonse Areola for £10 Million from PSG, Fabianski may have played well, but Areola IS the FUTURE, missing out on signing the Frenchman would show a complete lack of vision for the future as he could become a member of Hammers 'French back line' for years to come.

  • BOWEN CALL UP

    Jarrod Bowen receiving his long overdue England call up is good news for the player and for the club's kudos, but that is about that from the positive front because as all long suffering Hammers fans are only too painfully aware, West Ham players have a great deal of 'history' when it comes to beng injured playing for England!

    Hopefully Bowen will avoid thiose particular pit falls and enjoy himself as he takes his rightful World stage, albeit in the Nations league competition which is essentially a final World Cup warm up set of games ahead of the main event, talks of player burn out are rubbish though, particularly regarding Bowen who is as fit as a butchers dog, when he is NOT being stamped on by Liverpool players! -Ed

  • Psycho Quits-Forest Bound?

    West Ham United have officially confirmed that Stuart Pearce has made the decision to step down from his role as First Team Coach. Pearce, or Psycho as he is more commonly known to fans said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision to leave West Ham United. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work at the Club over the past two years, but I have decided that now is the right time to step away and pursue other opportunities and challenges. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank David Moyes, David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady for giving me the opportunity to return to West Ham. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here – the football club is united at all levels and that is very pleasing to see. It has been fantastic to work with the players and staff every day at Rush Green, a very special environment that I will miss greatly. I wish everyone at the Club all the very best for the future and will always have a special place in my heart for West Ham United.

    The 60-year-old leaves the Club after two years on David Moyes’s coaching staff, during which time he has played a key role alongside Billy McKinlay, Kevin Nolan, Paul Nevin and Xavi Valero as the Hammers enjoyed sixth and seventh place finishes in the Premier League and secured European qualification in both seasons, he also played for the Irons back in the day when 'Arry was manager.

    Pearce was NOT initially part of the coaching staff when David Moyes returned to the club following the sacking of Manuel Pellegrini, due to his 'too honest' appraisal of GSB during a Talksport broadcast of which he was a co-presenter, that 'overt crticism' seemed to have been forgiven but definitely NOT forgotten by the hierarchy!

    The "I have decided that now is the right time to step away and pursue other opportunities and challenges" part of Psycho's leaving statement infers he already has something lined up, and our understanding is that he has been offered a role with Nottingham Forest, a club he represented with great honour from 1985-1997 and who are due to face Huddersfl in this Sunday's play off final at Wembley.

    We have also heard that he has been offered a coaching job at Newcastle United, another club he played for. Where ever he ends up we wish him we, but worry about the loss of such a 'character' from the tight knit coaching staff, his 'upstairs' role was unique in that he spent the bulk of most games up in the rafters in order to give an 'aerial perspective' of what was going on in games, a technique and information that was deployed from the beginning of 'project restart', Psco WILL be missed! - LN

  • Lesser Of Two Evils!

    Which was worse? Manchester United getting the 'coveted' sixth place in the Premier League that entitles them to play in the Europa League Cup as a direct result of Hammers losing 3-1 against Brighton on the final day of the Premier League, or Tottingham managing to claw their way into the Champions League places?

    Or what was possibly worse was David Moyes' left field' 'brown submarine' assessment of what next season holds for the club! It was clear the manager was more than a little disappointed with his players following their 2nd half abject submission during the 3-1 loss to the Seagulls, but there appears to have been quite a lot of 'afters' connected with his comments.

    Perhaps Moyes was just annoyed that he had failed to 'get one over' on his previous employers by banishing them to Europe's 'cheap realtion' of a Cup competition, instead having to lead his own team through the much derided competition while Mancheter's 2nd team take their place in the Europa League Cup which hammers so nearly won last time out. A certain Aaron Cresswell might well be having his 'collar felt' aa result of some rash decisions that cost the club dear, Moyes is renowned for his long memory and his reluctance to bury the hatchet unless suitably appeased.

    Moyes will probably calm down within a couple of weeks, but this coming transfer window WILL see him flex his muscles in the transfer market, few are safe in his eyes as he sets about a 'radial' restructuring that WILL see the squad's average age reduce significantly, it was currently the 2nd oldest squad in the PREMIER LEAGUE! It isn't now, because Burnley have been relegated!

    In other news, Kurt Zouma was summoned to appear before Thames Magistrate's Court after being accused of three offences under the Animal Welfare Act for allegedly harming his cat, meanwhile Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has entered not guilty pleas to nine charges of sexual offences against six women. Mendy, 27, of Prestbury, Cheshire, denied all the charges, which include seven of rape, at Chester Crown Court. The French international is also accused of sexual assault and attempted rape. The offences are alleged to have taken place at his home between October 2018 and August 2021.

  • Moyes has to go

    I could not believe what i was hearing on various talk shows yesterday just what are some Fans thinking?.
    Moyes dragged us up out of the mire and has turned us into a very good premier league side that has qualified for europe through the league two season running thats as rare as rocking horse manure!.
    Don't get me wrong Moyes has plenty of faults and his biggest is dithering on big decisions during the match or deciding on transfers that has to stop....he has made it known he has the final and only say on transfers but for me that is a weakness he needs to trust his staff and listen more.

    Take yesterdays match it was poor from both sides from the start but being a side who could qualify for the Europa league we just looked like bags packed and feet up on the beach...We scored out of nothing and then second half Moyes had clearly decided to protect that leadinstead of going in search for a killer second we got steamrolled by players and a manager who were much better on the day.

    Potter took his defensive midfielder off Maupay striker was on and just like last week the opposition got instant rewards and deservedly ran out winners....Moyes in the meantime was playing pocket billiards and instead of impacting the game with a tactical switch and subs he let the game go on and to anyone watching it was inevitable what was going to happen and making subs so late in the day it was laughable.

    Moyes out Potter in? thats a debate for another time but considering the resources we have compared to those of Brighton who finished just 5 points behind us maybe it is a debate that will soon gather momentum if Moyes spitting of the dummy after the game is anything to go by.

  • How Many More Out The Door?

    Ryan Fredericks, Andriy Yarmolenko, Mark Noble AND how many more will be out the door when the transfer window opens? Fredericks, Noble and Yarmolenko are definitely leaving the club as their respective contracts end, with the exception of Noble the club do hold the option to extend the contracts by a further year but will not be exercising that facility.

    The glaring need for a left back, a centre back and of course the Elephant in the room a striker or TWO, obscures the fact that the club needs at least TWO top players for every position if it is to continue to aspire to regular top six finishes, the club needs new players just to stand still, let alone progress!

    The acquisition of Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal from PSG looks as if it is a goer, so it should be because Areola is the future, Fabianski cannot go on for ever and the roles will be reversed for both keepers during next season or even before. Areola's arrival all but confirms Darren Randolph's departure, the club might even get a couple of Million for him and will be looking to move him on at the earliest opportunity.

    Authur Masuaku is probably next on the list to go, he does possess wonderful feet when playing out of defence, the problem is he is an absolute defensive liability, especially for such a fast paced League like the Premiership. The club need to seriously invest on the left hand flank, which means any new centre back MUST be left footed.

    In midfield there needs to be a decision made regarding Conor Coventry, the Alex Kral loan signing was a disaster for both player and club, we have always felt there was something fishy about the deal that brought him to London. With Mr West Ham Mark Noble gone, surely now is the time to bring Coventry into the match day squad, he could provide cover for Rice and Soucek in a similar way as Noble did, but with legs!

    Much as the Media will link Hammers with everyone and anyone, don't expect 'massive' signings, rather a mix of freebies and lower league 'hit and hopes', it is where the club is financially, but the quality of players attracted to the club will have gone up and as such don't be surprised if one or two 'Big' names DO turn up. - Ed
