Right Back Where We Belong!
While Manchester United are busy trying to flex their transfer muscles by attempting to send out a "we aren't going to be stiffed on transfer" message, Hammers are forging ahead in their player recruitment and have let the Mancs stew in their own juice over the will he or won't he? Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham deal.
Wan-Bissaka hasn't helped himself any by insisting on a pay off from the Red Devils, but he is entitled to 'fight' for what he believes he deserves and probably resents (a) United trying to play silly buggers with their valuation of the player and (b) using him as a 'template' for new authoritarian Jim Ratcliffe 'hard man' tactics in negotiations to offset years of over paying for players.
The Irons newly rekindled interest in Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo will no doubt have been triggered by news that high earner Kurt Zouma is all but guaranteed to be moving to pastures new. Although the club will receive little or indeed nothing in transfer fees for their captain who is in the final year of his contract, the removal of his vast wages will give Hammers a bit of 'wiggle room' when it comes to FFP and PS regulations.
If Jean-Clair Todibo does arrive at Stratford and he is apparently flying in for a medical today, then Julen Lopetegui will need only to acquire a right back to complete his signings splurge. Of course Juventus might put a spanner in the works by upping their offer for the Frenchman but it seems that the central defender has had enough of being messed around by the Italian club and would prefer to deal with the no-nonsense Irons and Tim Steidten. - Oh Happy Days!- Ed
