    You know how it is when you sign Brazilian players, you sign one and then suddenly your clu bbecomes linked with just about every other player in the continent who has a pulse! Such is the case at West Ham where fresh after the official announcement of the signing of Luis Guilherme the club is actively working on the signing of not one, but TWO more Brazilians so get ready to Samba!

    To continue with the 'South American' flavour Hammers are deep into negotiations for Udinese's Argentine full back Nehuen Perez. The highly rated 23 year old has just made his first full start for the Argentine National team and is already coveted by many teams, but as is obvious, if you snooze you lose in today's transfer market and Hammers head of recruitment Tim Steidten or 'Scnell Steidty' likes to get things done quickly, having shown due diligence of course!

    Yet more South American targets are in Schnell's crosshairs, attacker Matias Soule is up for grabs from Juventus, the 21 year old Argentine attacker will allegedly not be sold for anything less than £33.7 Million (€40 Million) this summer, however Juve are actually prepared to let the player go for far less than that.

    Jota Silva, the 24 year old Portuguese winger from Vitoria de Guimaraes is also said to be in talks with the Irons over a €20 Million move, so there could well be a distincive smattering of Portugese being spoken in the dressing room next season!

    Steidten and the club have obviously recognised that despite potential pitfalls South America represents an opportunity for rich pickings, especially those who have adapted to European football.

    Isn't it refreshing to see West Ham on the front foot when it comes to transfers?, and if that front foot phylosophy is also applied to the type of football being played then it will be happy days for supporters as well! - Ed

  • When Are Players Worth A Punt?

    With the transfer window about to open, all the pre opening hysteria can then make way for some real full blown bull! Hammers have been LINKED with a plethora of players, enough to replace the entire team three or four times over, so when the dust settles who will the club go for? There are 'set in stone' targets, but there are also players who are 'worth a punt' despite the risks associated with signing them, whether fitness, attitude or difficult clubs and agents to deal with.

    The latest 'slight return' being mooted is former Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham, Roma are thought to value the striker, who has two years left on his contract, at between £17 Million-£21 Million and Abraham is thought to be keen on a return to England.

    Once of interest to a multitude of clubs, Tammy suffered an ACL injury from which he has taken a long time to recover, but he has recovered however he is finding game time hard to come by in Italy, is he worth a punt?

    Given the Irons atrocious record when it comes to signing injury prone players, then the answer has to be a definitive NO! But a fit and firing Abraham at around £20 Million could represent incredibly good value, especially when viewing Chelsea's valuation of Armando Broja who suffered a similar injury.

    In football you generally get what you pay for and in Abraham's case the price being asked reflects the risk in signing him, but beggars cannot be choosers and in the real world West Ham come under the beggars category, so why not take a punt?

    Another club like Villa will! - Ed

    Not quite Martin Luther King but something to inspire us for the Euro's!

    England are in the final, its 0-0 against one of our old foes.

    There's 88 minutes on the clock.

    That idiot Southgate turns to the bench and says "you're on Jarrod" 

    Bowen comes on, makes a run from the halfway line, is beautifully picked out with a pass from Declan Rice that has the measure of Trevor Brooking or Seve Ballesteros with a pitching wedge, controlled in one move, slotted past the keeper, the crowd go crazy, everyone is singing "Bowen's on fire..."

    Yet again, West Ham win a major trophy and we have the bragging rights... Oh yer.. We won the World Cup and The European Nations.. A theme that will go on for years to come   :o)

    Come on England, Come on you Irons... Believe!!!!

    Heard this today from a young West Ham fan who works in the postroom and i have to say i loved the sound of it i mean just the thought of a different way to play makes those dark clouds break up and the rays of light come beaming through getting brighter as the days go by.

    Hearing the rumours of players to be moved out and the possible ones to come in start to peak your interest again where as the thought of Maguire/McTominay and co coming in under the previous regime just made those clouds get darker but not anymore.

    Like all of us we are wondering how we will line up how we will play what will the new signings be like and that is so refreshing compared to what was a very very predictable line up week in week out under Moyes.

    I hope we do well but i really really hope that for once we do take the domestic cups seriously this season after all it is a good way to get back into Europe.

    DeMoyesing ahhh yes i feel like a great weight has been lifted from the fans and the club exciting isn't it.

    I have not been very complimentary in the past about this group, I just saw them as anti LS or as we call it now the BoM, and was basically some dinosaurs not prepared to follow WH to Stratford and basically move forward.

    However, in recent times they have become the voice of reason and standing up for the supporters that have no voice and are being rode over on many traditions picking on the weak, the young, the old, the infirm all in the cause of PROFIT at the expense of real fans.

  • Youths May Be A Vital Option!

    News that Dan Chesters has joined Salford from West Ham will come as a bit of a blow to those who are hoping that Hammers excellent youth players might be given a chance to step up to the plate under the club's new regime, however all is not lost as two 'mature' youth players have been offered new 'realistic' deals that may tempt them to stay at the club when it seemed that they were both off to pastures new!

    Divin Mubama and Ben Johnson have both been offered new no-nonsense deals since the arrival of Julen Lopetigui and it is hoped that they will BOTH accept the deals put on the table. Their signings would help Hammers homegrown quota and also save the club an awful lot of money in the process.

    If Lopetigui and Tim Steidten can repair the 'damage' caused by David Moyes' eclectic usage of these young players talent then it will be a win win situation for all parties concerned because it is quite frankly ludicrous to see talent nurtured and financed by the club for so many years just evaporate into the ether!

    Both players are not short of suitors, but the opportunity of a fresh start under a head coach who believes in them just sway the deals on offer. It is not as if the club doesn't desperately need to 'bump up' the number of squad players while bringing the average age of the squad down is it?

    There are several other 'gems' just champing at the bit to be given a fair crack of the whip and their promotion to the main squad could be a breath of fresh air as they mix with the senior players who have been round the block and back!

    It is only by blending experience and fresh talent that Hammers will be able to afford the total rebuild of the ageing and imbalanced squad left by David Moyes. - Ed

  • Player Search-Fruition 9 Days And Then Some!

    Hammers director of football has been racking up his air miles in his ceaseless quest to bring new manager Julen Lopetegui the transfer targets he has requested, the problem for Tim Steidten is that most teams don't want to play ball BEFORE the various transfer windows open.

    Clubs selling their prized assets are naturally going to hold out for top dollar in a pre-contrived game of brinkmanship until one of the parties involved blinks! Only clubs with HUGE transfer kitties can just steam in and blow the opposition out of the water, not only that but potential signings also want the lure of 'elite' competitions like the Champions League when choosing clubs, so there is a very difficult balancing act for a 'mid range' club like West Ham to negotiate.

    The club is unable to offer European competition for the first time in four years and does NOT have a massive transfer budget, it does however have a huge fan base and despite their Stadium not being fully fit for purpose, it does look impressive on first viewing.

    Fans expecting a sudden surge up the table in an all conquering swashbuckling fashion will be sadly disappointed, this coming season will be one of consolidation as the new manager and his director of football look to redress the 'criminal' imbalance of an ageing squad that needs a TOTAL overhaul and these things take time!

    The first step will be to get a few bodies through the door which, according to a news hungry media, the club have failed to do spectacularly to do! The fact hat the first of the transfer windows doesn't open for another NINE days seems to have been completely ignored, furthermore as the majority of Hammers new signings will NOT be from the domestic market fans will have to wait until the 1st of July for player arrivals!

    Patience is always in short supply among fans, but the sooner they accept the reality of the situation the sooner they will stop chasing 'click bait' nonsense dreamt up by column hungry writers! - Ed
