WHY?

mcbikeman's picture

Simple question but Why do our players seem disinterested and unmotivated yet again? its just like last season under Bilic.....so new season plenty of new blood in the squad but this same old problem keeps arising....Are the new management and coaches making the same mistakes and being to soft on our players if so it has to stop I don't want to hear about how good we look during the week I want to see it on Saturday when it matters but I already like many here have my doubts we will see that as the old problems raise there head again.,,so why do our players have such a poor attitude? its not like they are the first ones this has been a running theme for a good long while now...I often say that we are cursed as nothing seems to change at our club(apart from the ground!)The board must be thinking the same they have put a lot of money in and got the manager they said they wanted and yet 4 games in we look as poor if not more so than the start of last season?
Players already coming out saying its not good enough we need to do more blah blah bloody blah well get off the social media and start bloody grafting because you just don't earn the support you get from loyal west ham fans....I would like to say things will change and quick but seriously the stick I am getting off of my friends and colleagues already is getting hard to defend and the old whats the difference between west ham and a triangle joke being repeated over and over again is irritating and try as you must to defend your team amongst all the stick thrown my/our way is getting harder and harder so El Pel get to grips and get it sorted or we will be in for another bleak winter.

U-23 Team Culled Further As Promising Youngster Joins Charlton

The clean sweep of players at West Ham has continued with the announcement that Josh Cullen is joining EFL League One club Charlton Athletic on a season's loan. Manuel Pellegrini is said to rate The Republic of Ireland U21 captain very highly but feels his progress would be better served by going out on loan where he will link up with former West Ham United player and current Charlton manager Lee Bowyer and his former Hammers teammate Lewis Page at The Valley.

There will be many fans, particularly those who watch the development of youth team players closely, who will feel that 22 year old having excelled in League One previously, winning Players’ Player of the Year honours at Bradford City after inspiring the Bantams to the Play Off final in 2016/17 would be retained at the London Stadium. However the current Republic of Ireland U21 Player of the Year has only played nine times for Irons, most recently in the 1-1 Premier League draw at Chelsea last season, the Essex born player spent the first half of that season on loan at Championship club Bolton Wanderers, making 12 appearances before being recalled to the club by David Moyes after he took over as manager from Slaven Billic.

Hammers' manager Manuel Pellegrini obviously feels that he has enough cover for Cullen's preferred position, otherwise he would not have sent him out on loan again, we believe there is a 'back home' clause inserted in his contract whereby he can be recalled in the event of a catastrophic injury pile up, after all this is West Ham United!

Everyone at the Org would like to wish Josh all the best for his loan spell with the Addicks in Sarf London, pity though, because he has shown real promise at times, hopefully he will return a better player and at least he will be based near his family which is important. - Ed

Arnie Back To Face 'Wolves At The Door'

Hammers fans will be relieved to hear the good news coming out of the Rush Green training ground with regards to the fitness of 'main man' Marko Arnoutovic, the striker pulled up short during the 3-1 loss at the Emirates and was taken off as a precautionary measure, the fact that West Ham's performance dipped markedly after his withdrawal has not gone unnoticed. It is therefore good news for Manuel Pellegrini as he looks to get his first points as Hammers manager in the bag as his team take on newly promoted and highly fancied Wolves at the London Stadium.

The direction that El Pel wants to take the team in is pretty obvious, and given time supporters will be treated to attacking attractive football, the only issue is time, nowadays everything is so 'social media' orientated that as soon as a player breaks wind it is reported! The fact is Hammers need time to roll out the new look team and like it or not fans have just got to go along with the 'project'.

It is highly unlikely that Mark Noble's 'back injury' will have fixed itself in Pellegrini's mind ahead of the Wolves match, which will enable the 'midfield experiment' to continue because somewhere somehow there are the players in the squad to effectively toughen things up, however tyhere are probably a few 'painful' decisions that the manager has to take if he really wants the team to move forward in his image.

By the end of the international break Hammers starting line up will be totally different from the one that started against Liverpool in this season's opening fixture, certain players will feature less and less, if at all. The Premier League is an unforgiving place for teams to be, especially those lacking pace because that is what the PL is all about, pace and power, that's why people love it the World over!

No No To Ya Ya Thank Heavens As He's Off To Olympiakos

Ya Ya Toure's agent revealed on Tuesday night that the former Manchester City midfielder had passed a medical in London, inferring he was heading for a club in the capital as an 'out of contract' signing. His agent also took a swipe at West Ham and Fulham by saying that his client wouldn't drop down to the 'level' of either club!

It now transpires that Toure has agreed to go back to Olympiakos, who he first joined in 2005 and where he won the double before moving to Monaco after the 2006 World Cup. 35 year old Toure has agreed a two year deal that will see him earn a net £2 Million per season in Greece.

We at the Org think that is strong money for a player who is past his peak by some distance, that equates to £80,000 per week meaning Hammers have definitely dodged a bullet by Pellegrini's reluctance to 'go old', thank heavens for that. Oh and club won't have to deal with the 'provide the obligatory cake on the exact date of my birthday otherwise I walk' syndrome! - Ed

Issa Diop's Redemption In Hammers 3-1 Win Against Dons

Manuel Pellegrini was a happy and to some extent a relieved man as he saw his West Ham team overcome a stalwart and obdurate AFC Wimbledon side in a tense 2nd round Elk Cup tie, the relief element being the fact that Hammers conceded Wimbledon's goal from a set play within the first ninety seconds of the game. Even after going down to ten men the Don's didn't make it easy for their Premier League opponents in any way shape or form, some of their physical nature would not have been tolerated within the safe confines of the 'upper echelon' but this was a full blooded cup tie.

After 'gifting' the home side their goal Hammers set about gaining their equaliser and so began a relentless pursuit of the Don's goal, a task made apparently easier by the dismissal for a second yellow card to their main defender. This should have been the portent of floodgates opening, but it didn't instead Hammers laboured long and hard but couldn't find the killer punch, then up stepped Issa Diop, fresh from a potentially debilitating first team debut against Arsenal during which he unluckily conceeded an own goal, the 21 year old frenchman raced forward and launched a 25 yard swerving screamer in to the back of the net! Not content with that he then crashed a header of the bar 90 seconds later that would have sealed the victory there and then.

Ultimately Hammers had to wait until Angelo Agbonna steered in the second goal before they could relax, and when a largely profiligate Javier Hernandez finally managed to dance past the Don's beleagured defence and slot home the third from an acute angle it was smiles all round for the 500 Hammers fans who had managed to get tickets. It could be argued that the Dons were unlucky to have had their player sent off for what looked like a relatively innocuous challenge on Chicharito, but the home side had set out their stall early doors, and it defintely wasn't cricket!

Several players got a good run out tonight, Cresswell in particular as well as Yarmolenko who might have had a hat trick on another night, as could have Hernandez. A win is a win and make no mistake the happy dressing room 'vibe' will stand the team in good stead. It is indeed a compliment to AFC Wimbledon's commitment that Manuel Pellegrini felt compelled to bring Felipe Anderson on for the yellow carded Pedro Obiang at the beginning of the second half in order to ensure his side's victory over what was after all a League One team.

Whatever way you look at it Hammers are into the next round without having to go through the stress of penalties or the labours of extra time given the new format of the League Cup.- Ed

Cherry Red Stadium Or The Souless Dome?

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 28/08/2018 - 17:20

Ahead of tonight's match I have a feeling that a lot of fans will look at the match through 'cherry red' tinted glasses and lament the loss of 'Uppers' or the Boleyn, indeed it is sad to not be able to experience the past again, but that is the point, love it or leave it the future is here. Bit by bit the painful dome might get there in the end, especially if the club can purchase the ground outright which is probably what the two daves have always wanted. The need to leave the Stadium early is also a matter of some debate, this could be a shot in the foot moment, but since the new station at hackney wick has been completed it is possible to get two or three times as many people safely away from the match as was the case during the building works, we left after the whistle had blown for the bournemouth match and were able to walk to the station AND GET STRAIGHT ON TO THE PLATFORM WITHOUT THE STOP GO PADDLE BOARDS BEING USED! Blooming marvelous it was, pity about the result though.
Point is The LS or whatever you want to call it can become an intimidating place for opposition teams, it just needs that last little bit of belief from the home supporters to help push the team over the line, once they have done it they will come into their own.
I shall now go and take my prescriptions!
