Vile And Despicable No Room For Shame For West Ham Fan

Sometimes it's time to say enough is enough, even if it's to one of your augmented family, or as some would say "time to call a spade a spade", now this phrase, deliberately chosen, is extremely contentious as in most people's minds it is racist and yet was a turn of phrase used commonly in the past. Bad language has been part and parcel of football, particularly towards your own players and their performances along with that of the referee, virtually ever since fans paid to watch football, in the heat of the moment people get carried away and can express themselves in a way that they would never dare in normal circumstances, this is part of the allure of football. A stage, a place to play, group therapy, anger therapy, joy therapy even but above all escapism, but the difference between escapism and reality can become blurred.

As an example, most people young and old, particularly middle aged men and women have had 'murderous thoughts' at some time in their lives, possibly for a nano second or even longer, but the point is that 99.9999999999999999% or around that do not become murderers.

At the London Stadium during the intervals there is a nicely crafted advert/statement about respect and 'swearing and abusive language' voiced over by fans and players young and old, but listening to it fans wait for 'West 'am fan' Ray Winstone to say "we're west 'am fans and we respect each other" which is a worthy, great and generally applicable statement, but actually most people laugh at 'the punch line' and add "we're West Ham fans and we swear responsibly" as an 'homage to his Bet 365 adverts and persona that he magnificently 'morphs' between being a Betway match day mouth piece in true thespian fashion, after all he is a great actor!

The unearth shattering point is that people do swear at football matches and have done since we at the Org remember, for some of us a that is a very long time, in the past there were some dreadful racist and anti religious chants that were common place. Thankfully the most abhorrent have all but disappeared and rightly so, but as an example of 'accidental impropriety', during the match against West Bromwich Albion the referee to all intents and purposes seemed to give every single decision to the away team and after one particular sin Ed Jnr and I were particularly perplexed and I with my ex muso voice belted out that the referee was a ***t, not beginning with a t, completely forgetting that our fellow season ticket holder had brought along his partner and their two year old girl!

So people in glass house shouldn't throw stones!

Nearing the end of the match Ed Jnr and the old man noticed a lot of action near the side line despite being a thousand miles away, Ed Jnr thought that Psycho had been 'restrained' for being disruptive but now it transpires it was Baggies player Jake Livermore who had just been substituted who was being 'restrained', initially by stewards and then by his own team's staff as he attempted to confront a Hammers fan.

'West Ham United have identified the supporter who was confronted by West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jake Livermore during Tuesday's Premier League match the fan is reported to have shouted to Livermore, and an investigation is under way to establish whether he directed abuse about Livermore's baby son, who died in 2014.'

Perhaps this 'fan' was boozed up, or perhaps they had endured a wretched and miserable Christmas and New Year, that is the most 'charitable' way of looking at what is a heinous crime that has as yet been 'allegedly' committed. The sad thing is, and it is a damning indictment about our increasingly disparate culture, that within 'the pack' people still feel able to commit disgusting acts 'in the heat of the moment' and expect not to be sanctioned. Anyone who has lost a child or been close to someone who has will tell you it is the most devastating and painful experience ever imaginable and that words alone cannot truly express the feeling.

It is widely known that Livermoore, the former Tottenham midfielder, had tested positive for cocaine after Hull's Premier League win over Crystal Palace during April 2015. Livermore escaped suspension after the FA ruled the death of his new born son Jake Junior in May 2014 was an overwhelming mitigating factor. An FA statement at the time read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Hull City FC midfielder, Jake Livermore, has admitted breaching Regulation 3 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations after testing positive for a prohibited substance. "However, due to the specific and unique nature of the circumstances surrounding the case, he will face no suspension." Livermore was ordered to undertake a course of rehabilitation and education, and was also the subject of target testing for a period of 12 months.

Although not proved guilty yet, the supporter who shouted at Livermore must have incensed a 'normally placid' lad astronomically in order that he would launch himself in to the crowd, and by all means known to us at this time it transpires the 'abuse' directed at Livermore was indeed referencing the death of his son, even worse was a further reference to the player being a 'coke head' of a dead kid! If proved these disgusting jibes have no place at a football ground, they have no place any where!

Sometimes a man has to admit his transgressions no matter how painful that be, it is only to be hoped that the person in question, who was unbelievably not detained for further investigation, gets in touch with the club in order to somehow begin to apologise for their actions, actions that every right minded Hammers fan will never condone. As a club West Ham can only promise to act swiftly to ensure such disgusting behaviour is never tolerated, after all, we are West Ham and we swear responsibly. - Ed

Great Win 'Papers Over Cracks' As Hammers Beat Baggies

All those hardy souls, including those from West Bromwich, who ventured out in appalling weather to see West Ham take on the Baggies were rewarded with a cagey but energetic relegation 'six pointer' that saw Hammers eventually run out 2 - 1 winners. As the jubilant home fans went their ways home in a mini hurricane singing bubbles one could be forgiven for thinking that all things were 'tickety boo' in the Hammers camp, however a prevailing comment on the overground and probably on all the other 'convenient' transport links was one of "great win, but it only papers over the cracks", unfortunately on closer analysis that is very close to the mark!

West Bromwich arrived at the London Stadium managed by that silver haired lothario Alan Pardew, he looked almost identical to the guy who used to manage West Ham! Having played Arsenal in a hard fought game 48 Hours earlier where they earned a creditable point the Baggies should have been there for the taking by a Hammers team that had the relative luxury of six days off courtesy of their fixture against Tottenham having been rescheduled by the Police insisting that they could not provide sufficient forces for the match originally scheduled for New Years Eve, the odds of getting anything from the Spurs game can be found at http://www.thatsagoal.com

Despite having one or two 'sniffs' at goal Hammers were really pedestrian and looked like the team that had only 48 Hrs break between matches as opposed to the visitors who looked sprightly and up for it. Manu Lanzini was forced to play so deep that only a keen eye from the 'up in the gods seats' could determine whether it was the Argentine maestro or the equally slight of frame Aaron Cresswell actually playing the ball out of defence, in the first half it was mostly Lanzini! He did have one really good chance that was saved well by the very active Foster who had a really good game, without his heroics, especially in the second half, the score line might have looked far more respectable from a West Ham point of view. But several home players looked incredibly jaded despite having the extra days of rest their opponents were deprived of, the most guilty offender being the previously ever reliable Kiwi warrior that is Winston Reid, he looked so far of the pace it was ridiculous, and not only was he slow but his decision making was all over the place, he was indecisive in the tackle and his passing was rank, Reid looked a shadow of his former self, perhaps he was carrying an injury or was ill?

Until Mark Noble was brought on for the second half Hammers midfield had looked toothless and was in danger of being completely over run, but the much criticised Noble (by ourselves as well as many others) proved to be the catalyst for a far better performance, he helped get the crowd behind the team and as anyone who has attended recent matches at the London Stadium knows once the place starts 'rocking' the atmosphere can be tremendous, and such was the case following Andy Carroll's first goal. The remaining minutes, which the Baggies did everything they could to waste, saw a 'Tora Tora Tora' flourish from the home side with the crowd roaring their team on for the remaining minutes, the relief and excitement when Carroll managed to turn in 'Elbows' Arnoutovic's mishit cros that was intended for Javier Hernandez but fell at the feet of the big geordie, was palpable and many a Happy Hammer braved the cold for their journey from the London Stadium, but in everyone's mind will be the slightly disturbing thought that if Hammers had been playing a 'top team' that the result might have been significantly different in a negative way.

You can paper over cracks in the short term, which is good because West Ham have only short term breaks between their matches against Tottenham on thursday and Shrewsbury Town on Sunday, both matches are being televised, the London Derby on Sky TV and the FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury which will be shown by the BBC who are doubtless hoping for a 'cup upset'.

West Ham's need for more strength in the midfield area is obviously a matter of great concern to Hammer's boss David Moyes who will actively seek fresh recruits but is also aware that there are few bargains to be had in the 'January Sales' but he has to do something soon in order to maintain West Ham's journey up the table, after all he can't keep on papering over the cracks can he? - Ed

Move For West Ham Supporting Newcastle Player Shelved

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 02/01/2018 - 10:57

Hopes that West Ham United could persuade Rafa Benitez to sell them creative midfielder John Jo Shelvey have taken an almighty hit, the player who began his career with the Hammers as a youth player was part of the starting line up for Newcastle in their match against Stoke City. Shelvey's rare start seems to indicate Benitez has decided to 'bring him back to the fold', either that or the Toon manager is being canny knowing that Shelvey's value will increase if he is starting matches, West Ham are among a string of teams who would welcome the combative qualities the Romford born player brings to the table.

The only hope of 25 year old Shelvey joining up with David Moyes at the London Stadium rests with the intransigence of the take over of Newcastle from Mike Ashley by the consortium led by Amanda Stavely which is currently floundering, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez may be forced to free up cash by parting with a couple of players in order to strengthen his squad. Newcastle's away victory against fellow relegation strugglers Stoke City may have been a reprieve for Benitez whereas defeat for the Potters may well herald the departure of under fire manager Mark Hughes.

Missing out on John Jo Shelvey would not be a complete disaster as David Moyes has several other targets including Jack Wilshere from Arsenal, another Hammers fan! The thread appears to embrace the acquisition of players who have an affinity with West Ham, it's not rocket science but it's little details that can make all the difference. - Ed

Yup that says it all...our prem status is all important not winning things but staying in the money league does....thats modern football for you...6 days rest play wba tonight spuds thursday then 3 days later the cup game which is already being sold as a game to far.....expect a bfs against forest job few years back so those marvelous traveling fans will get shafted again...we are never going to win the league and relegation we have been there before so as rotten as that is we deal with it and carry on so we look to the cups but as usual we will not take this seriously because it could stop our board money gathering from the richest league in the world as for the supporters well lets give them a few headlines about buying this player that player to keep them happy but for some reason just miss out and so the circus goes on.....its not what football is about but hey why let that get in the way of making money.

John Jo shelvey

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Mon, 01/01/2018 - 13:08

First Harry arter, then Steven nzonzi, then some scot we never heard of and now John Jo shelvey. Can shelvey really offer what we need? Looks like the board could have learnt nothing. Firstly he is hardly the next level, infact I'd say more likely the old level. A little bit better than snodgrass but that's all. He doesn't always nail down a place at Newcastle and not renown for a good engine or putting his foot in a tackle. At best I'd say he would be cover for lanzini. So why buy now! Look Sullivan buy what we NEED most urgently not what's cheap.we need an arter or even better a joe Allen. Someone who is resilient, these players generally are easier and cheaper to find. (Although not as cheap as 12 mill quoted for shelvey) if we can't find or afford at least one of those type of midfielders we deserve to go down. So is Sullivan about to make another January mistake?

It's Amazing How Original This Transfer News Is!

It's amazing how original the Mirror and countless others are, the day after we ran our Ayew in exchange for Mawson article the Mirror, The Cardiff Centennial and of course our old DDoS friends at C & H and a whole bunch of other sites all ran stories that were extremely similar, however none of them were actually able to name their source and that is because they couldn't!

The reason they were unable to name a 'an insider' is because the source just happened to go to school with our founder and was the original 'doris the teal lady' source we always used, however due to a family dispute we ceased to communicate up until recently, so look forward to a few Mirror 'exclusives' during the january transfer window, because you will more than likely read them here first! - Ed Jnr
