What the hell has happened to this site ?

It has as much life as Kevin Nolan on a bad day, obviously many have either gone to other sites I have too, but bloomin heck no one is making any effort I keep on trying, but why I do not know because no one else is coming up with anything. Maybe it could be to do with West Ham not exciting us at the moment or some of the old posters have simply not returned ? .
I personally have found the layout of this site quite different to the last one which has made it slightly less enjoyable to come back to though I am just happy that the site is back. I keep on looking for more input from posters thinking that maybe i do not understand the site and I am missing some extra pages but that is not the cast because people are simply not posting or it seems to me interested enough to post.
Maybe I am wrong sorry to moan, I just feel the site is not pulling me in as it did before.

Money is on him staying

So it looks like Allardyce is staying. It will be music to the ears of some and fill others with dread. After this week's abject performance against Villa, I almost envied the others in claret and blue, that they have a fresh new start and something to look forward to. Like our season we only turned up for one half and the one we were bad in featured Nolan. If you want a laugh btw, slow-mo Cleverly's goal and Nolan trying to track back. I asked the question of the pro-Allardyces to try and convince us that next year will be something to look forward to. All I got back was the usual rhetoric, don't know what your talking about blah blah blah, oh and my favourite, "Have you ever coached!?". A position held mainly by the media also this season, but funny how they have now stopped talking about it. Also funny that the owners didn't even nod towards Allardyce's amazing achievements this season at the awards dinner. I suppose anybody that thinks Allardyce shouldn't go is happy with the 3 wins against Sunderland, Hull and Burnley this year. Maybe Danny Murphy will break silence and tell us how fortunate we are.
So back to Villa, they're ground is about 3/4 full, apparently a hangover from the Lambert days. They vote with their feet there, rightly or wrongly and have forced a change. Lambert's record for the first 19 games this season was 21 points. According to us that should warrant a new 2 year contract. Which now looks likely for Allardyce. In the knowledge that Nolan is going to start every game how do things get better or is this as good as it gets? Someone on here said something like, "If Allardyce managed Chelsea he'd have Costa up front with Hazard behind". No he wouldn't he'd buy Nolan and stick Hazard on the bench. Another pearl of wisdom was that Nolan should become a coach. To coach what drinking and eating kebabs? " Kev, show us how you stick your are out again at corners". So another season with the mighty duo at the helm and big Andy making a 6-game cameo. Oh by the way Allardyce has asked for more money, so that's more than the £60K a week he already gets. So forget our enjoyment as fans, how the hell are we not going to get relegated? the fallacy that Allardyce GUARANTEES you Prem football is waning. Playing like this with 10 men every game, we're only heading one way.

in your opinion who is the most convincing mob criminal you've ever seen , who puts the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end ,movies or box sets , mine is pretty recent , De niro in American hustle , not your normal slick mafioso, but an aging balding geezer in tinted specs , the bit where they tried to con him with the phony Arab and all of a sudden he starts talking Arabic was brilliant , De niro has been in some crap in his time but the five minuets he was in this made up for everything

Watching that second half against Villa proves to me that we have so much potential, that our players can cut it in the premiership and when they are allowed to fly they can do it pretty well.
Unfortunately even now when the season has almost finished Big Sam still feels the need to play defensively, but at least he allowed our players to show what they are capable of in that second half and it almost paid off.
It is painfully obvious that we have some decent attacking players in the squad and I feel confident that if they were playing attacking football more regularly they will be tighter and better at it and God how I wish they could be unleashed against the lower teams and all teams at home games to attack with belief and want, and show us all what they can do.
I am not blind and can see that Sam Allardyces hands are somewhat tied because of Injuries (Though even if he had a fully fit squad would he change things that much ?) my belief is that West Ham have a bright future and simply need 3-4 top notch players to become a top 6 team but Nolan has to go possibly even Noble too maybe not next year for him though, a few difficult decisions have to be made if West Ham wish to step up but to make those decisions we have to play more positively so we can see who can cut it and who cannot, our biggest problem is lack of pace and a few players probably the ones I have mentioned may be the problem.
Downing too I am not sure about but he gets moved around like a rubiks cube if he is played as he was when we were playing well then he is a leader in attack though where that leader is now God knows.

Had the painful misfortune to be dragged along with the grandson to watch this film last Saturday, and was just about to nod off, when about 15 minutes from the end, there was a rendition of "Bubbles" ... almost stood to attention in the middle of a crowded cinema ... lol

Why Sam is not the man

Not the man to improve West Ham as an attacking force that is.

Most of us accept that Sam is a good defensive manager, most credit him with getting us back up at the first attempt, and credit him with stabilising us in the difficult first season back. This was achieved by making West Ham a hard side to beat, something Sam (a defender as a player) is naturally good at.

But being good defensively is only half a manager's job, though Sam might say otherwise! A manager also has to be good at making his side into a potent attacking force, or at least as potent as possible given the players available. We are almost at the end of our third year back in the Premier League, and I think Sam has badly fallen down in this direction. In fact I would go as far as to say he is a poor attacking manager.

I'll give you some reasons why I believe this.
Last season Sam played Jarvis on the left, and Downing on the right (against their natural feet). This is a modern trend, the theory is that the player can cut in on his good foot, and either have a pot at goal or whip a cross in angled to the centre-forward. All well and good IF it works out in games. IT NEVER DID! Every single game (from memory) was played this way, and how many goals and assists did these 2 players produce in the 2013-2014 season? ONE between them!! Sam might have swapped them around during games, if only to give the opposition something to think about, he never did. He might have, at least tried, playing them for whole games on their natural sides, he never did. We know Sam is a stats man, so why did he persist? Stubborness is sometimes a virtue, but not in the face of repeated failure.

I am not a big fan of Tiki-Taka, but being able to keep possession of the ball is a basic footballing skill: pass, move and get open so the guy with the ball has options. If you have the ball, the other side can't score, it's not rocket science. We have very good players, so why do we lose/give away the ball so much? Our possession is almost always (yes not Saturday against 10 men I know) less than our opponents. I can only guess that passing practise is not high on Sam's list of things we work on in training, because our players too often look like strangers, and don't seem to have developed the instincts of knowing where each other will be, those kind of instincts come from repeated practise.

Sam seems very wary of 'skill' players. He doesn't seem to want to give them a chance (maybe it's his inate dislike of 'taking chances'). Be it Zarate getting few games earlier in the season before basically being scrapped, or Amalfitano getting very few starts, or Nene getting almost no time at all. Sam would much rather give time to "trusted" players however less talented they are.

Overall I would say he lacks imagination in the attacking side of the game, he likes to play one way, with trusted players. But this has the effect of making us predictable and easy to play against.
I have little doubt that we could remain a mid-table side if Sam stays. We could have season after season in the 'middle group' of the Premier League. But if we want to watch better football, and maybe even challenge for trophies in the next few years... well I just can't see it happening under Sam.

Step forward Aaron Cresswell!!!!
Well done on a fully deserved award.
Now ensure you snub those two clubs of to$$ers that play in Blue and deliver on what could be a great final year at the Boleyn (if Sam's not around!! sorry)
