Official Announcement Expected Soon

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Mon, 06/05/2024 - 14:25

A friend of the site who works for TNT, (formerly BT Sport) has confirmed to us that there has been a flurry of activity in West Ham's press and PR offices at the Stratford stadium where TNT are also based.

News leaked by Fabrizio Romano appeared to take the PR machine of balance, with the general assumption being that an announcement was due to be made on Friday ahead of this week's final home game against Luton on Saturday.

Of course originally Moyes' departure had been planned for the closed season, however results have been so atrocious that they have hastened the plans for his departure. Essentially the club was in a no-win situation and will come under considerable criticism for the way they have handled the entire affair.

David Moyes 'going public' regarding the supposed contract offer he had on the table didn't help matters and put a few noses out of joint, on reflection it was the act of a man who knew his time was up but refused to acknowledge the reality.

As we have mentioned before, it is a pity that things have come to this. Moyes deserves great praise for what he has achieved during both his spells at West Ham, he certainly doesn't deserve some of the keyboard warrior attacks he has had to endure of late, but that is the modern game!

Events seem to have passed Moyes by and perhaps ploying his trade in pastures new is just what he need to reinvigorate himself, so thank you Mr Moyes and let's all begin a new chapter! - LN

Loopy Lu It Is Then!

Well there you have it, Hammers appear to have kept the sprat in the form of Julen Lopetegui, instead of the mackerel Ruben Amorim, that they intended to catch! In a way it should come as no surprise that Amorim chose to stay at Sporting as opposed to joining the madhouse that is West Ham United.

David Sullivan was never going to shell out €20 or even €10 Million in compensation to bring Amorim to East London, whereas Lopetegui was available without any fee. Other names like Thomas Tuchel were merely mentioned to show 'due dilligence', but were never realistically going to join the rented home of the club.

Lopetegui's impending appointment will be extremely underwhelming to many fans, but is it that bad? Of course only time will tell, but he couldn't do worse than winning only four games out of twenty four and as such should be seen as a breath of fresh air until proven otherwise.

Lopetegui has been out of work since he left Wolves, so will be keen to start what will be a MASSIVE re-building of the shambles he will inherit from David Moyes. With as many as TEN players needed he will have to work closely with Tim Steidten AND bring members of the youth teams through, something he is NOT known for.

Whether you wanted him or not Lopetegui's appointment is all but confirmed and hopefully the club will have the cajones to announce the new manager BEFORE the Luton game in order for David Moyes to get the send off he so richly deserves.

It is a pity Moyes didn't leave at the end of last season as a hero and legend, whereas now his reputation will be tarnished by what has been a dreadful domestic season punctuated with his determination to do things his way, irrespective of the consequences.

In the end the fans had just had enough of his dour pragmatic approach that he refused to alter and he is now paying the price. From Dino to Loopy Lu?, what a choice! -Ed

No player has the balls

mcbikeman's picture
Submitted by mcbikeman on Sun, 05/05/2024 - 19:11

Another weekend another thrashing another Moyes masterclass that is for certain and the players another lethargic can't be bothered display is just not good enough.

The players clearly know that the tactics Moyes insists on playing does not work but do any of them have the Balls to tell him we can't play that way we get stuffed when we do we do not have the players to do it so change it use the squad make changes....but nothing silence except for the usual social media shite about "it's not good enough and we will do better" by various players.

Well how about shutting the door in the locker room with the fans that spend hard earned cash to follow the club home and away look them in the eye and for Moyes to explain what he is doing and for the players to explain there performances.......not one of them would have the balls to do that and so i urge all you season ticket holders do not renew wait until we see who the manager is going to be because the club the manager and right now the players do not deserve your support.

Ruben Amorim Release Clause Reduced With One Condition

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Sun, 05/05/2024 - 09:30

Sporting Lisbon are willing to accept HALF of the supposed €20 Million release clause in their manager's contract, contrary to the reports all over the British media. However there will be NO confirmed movement until Sporting have completed their season and wrapped up another top of the table finish, which would be their THIRD in a row!

It is understood the Sporting hierarchy are well aware of Amorim's desire to manage in the Premier League and have offered him a 'route back' if things go pear shaped. Going to a relatively low profile club like West Ham will prevent other more elite clubs from grabbing him on long lucrative contracts.

It is believed they are willing to let the 40 year old go for €10 Million with the condition that he returns to Porto first after his contract finishes, they insist on this option which Ruben Amorim is believed to be considering along with his advisors.

Incidentally, reports that his meeting with Hammers supremo David Sullivan are also wide of the mark, the pair enjoyed a 'cordial' meeting where it was decided that it would be better to wait until the end of the season before further talks, so the meeting was seen as a 'pointer' rather than a full blown interview.

Hammers stalwart Mark Noble and Director of football Tim Steidten BOTH want the club to go for Ruben Amorim, as opposed to the other main candidate, Julen Lopetgui who is being pushed by Will Salthouse, Sullivan's 'old mucker' who brought Lucas Paqueta to the club.

Hammerscould have handled the situation better had they sat down with David Moyes and been a little more direct instead of hedging their bets! But it is what it is and now the whole circus is in the public domain, it is to be hoped that some clarification arrives sooner rather than later.

Defeat at the Bridge today would remove any vague chance of European qualification for next season and may be the key to ending Moyes' tenure officially in order that he can get the send off he thoroughly deserves in the club's final home game against Luton next week. - Ed

Lopetegui-The Good The Bad And The Ugly, His Wolves Tenure!

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Fri, 03/05/2024 - 17:20

"The lengthy International break for the World Cup preceded the mid season arrival of Julen Lopetegui who had been brought in to replace Bruno Lage at Wolves, it enabled him to have a mini pre-season to implement his ideas, which had guided Sevilla to a Europa League trophy and three consecutive top-four finishes".

It wasn’t just tactical changes that Lopetegui, described as charismatic at the time, introduced. Lage, much like Moyes failed to ever impart his personality on the squad, team bonding was sacrificed for long and laborious running sessions, leaders were ousted and Wolves became a team that played in the dour personality of their manager.

The usually reserved Lopetegui punched his chest in the front of the supporters in his first meeting which got supporters on his side instantly. Lopetegui quickly identified fitness as a major issue and made it an immediate priority. Double sessions were introduced from the off with the aim of making his side one capable of impacting games in the latter stages, just running sideways wasn't enough! A club wide meal time was put back on the menu with the hope of rebuilding some team spirit.

On Boxing Day, Loeptegui’s first game in charge, Wolves were trailing 1-0 at Goodison Park with the chance for Everton to move seven points clear of their opponents.

Podence drew them level, before Ait-Nouri’s injury-time goal secured victory. Lopetegui began picking up results with a squad he had yet to put his own stamp on.

He was then backed in the January window, with record signing Mathues Cunha arriving to add some extra guile. But it was the shrewd acquisitions of Hammers own Craig Dawson and Mario Lemina, who instantly improved the spine of the side. Dawson in particular having been immense ever since then.

Levels of pressing increased, intensity went up and once Wolves looked like a team ready to fight for their manager. Bad days culminated with Lopetegui happy to accept responsibility, rather than pile the pressure on his team.

Wolves picked up 29 of their 40 points in front of their own fans. Under Lopetegui Wolves won seven games at Molineux without conceding a goal. Their 10 home clean sheets were the most in the division at the time, and they boasted wins over Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Aston Villa under their new head coach

Wolves were a different proposition away from home. For the most part, they were awful. Lopetegui then had to watch on as Neves, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez were all sold because of funds suddenly drying up due to the Chinese economic crisis.

Lopetegui stated that keeping Wanderers in the Premier League was the biggest achievement of his illustrious career. Few that watched Wolves before that World Cup break would disagree.

They were bottom at Christmas, and in the last 10 seasons before, only two sides bottom after 15 games had stayed up!

Of course it all ended in tears because Lopetegui had been made various promises about about funding for new players which were NOT kept, making his position untenable, so he walked! Many managers would have just acquiested, but he was a man who stuck to his guns!-Ed

Moyes Throws His Toys Out The Pram!

David Moyes has effectively managed to get Tim Steidten BANNED from the Stratford Stadium and from the club's training ground until the end of the season, or that is according to a flurry of Press reports and shady denials.

In a way Moyes cannot be blamed for wanting the German out of his sight, the Hammers manager probably feels he deserves better than to see his 'chief tormentor' on a daily basis in and around the dressing room and training facilities on a daily basis.

Given the fact that it is Steidten who has been charged with finding Moyes' replacement there was always going to be a certain amount of bad feeling festering away from the 60 yr old Scot regarding the German.

After a frosty start the pair appeared to be getting on reasonably well, but Moyeshasnow decided he doesn't want the distraction and Press barage that follows Steidten everywhere he goes. The club must take some responsibility for how things have panned out although in truth there is little they could do to avoid a clash of personalities as Moyes' tenure comes to its inevitable end.

Moyes himself is not without blame, surely he knows that he is a 'dead man walking' and that the club is merely seeing out the remainder of his contract with little if any intention of renewing it unless stringent new rules are followed.

Moyes has had a brilliant five years at the club and has brought much needed stability, but it felt throughout the club's fan base that he has reached his limit and a parting of the ways is the best for all parties.

Moyes is old school and notoriously stubborn, so unfortunately this saga looks like it will run to the bitter end with no handshakes and no clarity for fans, many of whom are waiting to see the result of the managerial shenanigans before committing themselves to purchasing their season ticket for next season, particularly those in the higher price band!-Ed

All Roads Lead To Nowhere In Manager Hunt!

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 30/04/2024 - 10:54

West Ham United were famous for their 'scatter gun' approach to signing strikers before the arrival of Tim Steidten, however his balanced and intuitive approach doesn't seem to have been adopted when it comes to replacing David Moyes!

Instead of the 'Steidten way' of getting things done quickly with the minimum amount of fuss and 'public' sharing, the search for a new manager has become the exact antipathies of the Steidten way.

Majority shareholder David Sullivan has adopted the 'hands on' approach that many people thought and hoped we had seen the last of, with cavalcades of potential suitors travelling to either gnome towers in Theydon Bois or The still unnamed Stadium in Stratford for 'meaningful' and constructive meetings.

Virtually any manager with a pulse has been linked to the club in the last ten days and it is difficult to see any change in the near future. The managerial runners and riders have changed constantly on a daily basis with at least a dozen faces in the frame!

Apparently the emphasis has now shifted back on to Lopetegui who many fans had hoped would be managing in Italy next season, his dour defensive approach making him a Moyes 2:0 but with a foreign accent!

The list is so endless it is perhaps better to list those who aren't in the frame! The club's public flirtation with so many managers has a whiff of the old smoke and mirrors about it that is usually associated with the club around season ticket renewal time.

Don't be surprised if the club announce an extension to incumbent manager Moyes' current contract eventually, something along the lines of "having evaluated all the managers out there we have decided to stick with David Moyes who has brought a sustained level of success and stability to the club since his arrival"

Be careful what you do and don't wish for! - Ed
