Champions League Anyone?

Submitted by Zummerzet on Fri, 15/01/2016 - 10:51

Well 21 games in, fifth in the league, best current form, and unbeaten in eight games. Dare we mention the possibility of a Champions League place?
Let's look at the contenders. Arsenal to my mind seem to be best placed, with their injury list improving they look odds on to qualify and possibly win he Premiership. Man City, always look good on paper but have that element of self-destruction but a top four place is again odds on. Leicester, well what a turn up! They are playing like demented demons and just when you think they are shot they turn up with a win at Spuds! If their luck holds and they avoid injuries they are with us a possibility. Spuds, sorry dislike them intensely, know it's childish, so sod them. Man U and Pool, good squads but cannot gel. With new to the Prem players they can produce the goods but I think not.
It look's as if the last position is up for grabs, we have 17 games to go, the lack of strikers and the injury situation is concerning so we should be looking at the next stage. The fact that we are in the new stadium next season and the possibility of Champions League football would look enticing to new signings from any league in the world.

This is a great chance for us, other teams are sporadic in their performances, so this opportunity may not present itself again. The rich clubs will improve their squad, that's a definite, Chelsea will be back next year so the big four will all be there. Added to that will the Prem still get four places in the Cham League after piss poor performance of our top teams?

Please SuGo grab this chance, it will not appear again.

Ive watched the game twice and can't seem to move on …. A great week. But there were a few things about the Bournemouth game that I am surprised have not been mentioned. Firstly I like to read the opposition view on KNUM. Always get a kick out of opposing team supporters.. Normally its the usual 'how did we lose against a shitty WH.. But the Bournemouth supports were full of respect and realism that is usually missing, so hats off to them and good luck in the Prem. …. No mentions on this site or in their comments about what a good player one of our own Stanislas has become. Glad to see him in a Prem team and doing well. His form now would have made it in our team a year ago but not after our summer signings, but hope he keeps on improving and playing well…. Interesting fact by the commentator during the game, that we have not lost to a team outside of the M25 this season….. Valencia scores the second and all I can hear is "We've got Payet……." felt a bit sorry for him,… It was a well taken volley coming to his foot at great speed, could have very easily gone over if not executed right. Its not often the assist gets more credit than the scorer!.
Payet is fantastic but if we can all put our proverbial 'hard ons' back in our pants and see it was a great team effort. I am in awe as mush as the next supporter and his performance puts other individual performances in the shade. Valencia's free kick was spectacular and every bit as good as Payets. Ogbona, Collins, Noble, Antonio all had a great game… Anyway glad to get these off my chest, working late and been thinking about this post all day!! COYI… Cant wait till Saturday… Thoughts !!!

Sam Byram

Just heard Leeds have accepted a £3 million bid from Everton, with possible £1 million in add-ons, and £12K a week wages! Come on chairmen, don't miss out on this boy please!! If Everton think Byram is better than Seamus Coleman you can see what a player this boy is. We've tracked him for so long we've probably alerted everyone else to him and now we let someone else gazump us.
He's the Championship player of the month for December, 21, born in Thurrock in Essex, and (rumour has it) a West Ham fan.
We know already with Cresswell and Antonio that these boys can make the jump.
Come on West Ham, get rid of Zarate, Lee, O'Brien if you have to. Only 12K a week. Surely that's possible. Make it happen!!!

Things You Never Hear in The Media

Things you will never hear in the media or motd.

Liverpool really are just an average team currently on the slide.

Rooney has been struggling for months

England don't have any decent players ATM.

The best and most exciting game on match of the day is first and it doesn't involve any of our favourite teams.

The aurora around sam allardyce really is nothing more than a myth

And

This is the second time West Ham have been first on match of the day this season

Anyone got any others?

Do the so called big clubs actually do that? I honestly think not look at citeh and there laughable attempts to find a decent centre half to go alongside kompany when fit...throw money at it make that a helluva lot of money so paying £30/35 million for a player he must be brilliant...errr no...look at the youth policy of these clubs as well its truly pointless..chelski the biggest culprits there why promote players when you simply go out and buy who you want ready made......clubs like ours though its different we don't have that kind of money to throw around but clearly we have people who no what we are looking for...obiang never noticed him before but bam he is a decent player much overlooked because of Payet now there is another who lets be honest we never really heard of but for£10million what a bargain...sakho another when he played at palace last season coming on as a sub like many I thought here we go maiga mark2 but no you suddenly noticed his movement his pace and clear skill in front of goal....Antonio of course is another ogbonna the juve defender he goes about his work calmly.....all these players clearly known about and scouted properly before the transfers made and now lanzini what a player....first real look at him against astra Giurgiu he scores but me and my west ham mates thought not bad but probably to lightweight for the prem....how wrong can you be...clearly someone somewhere had good knowledge about this player and he was worth the risk and like payet you cannot imagine a west ham side without him.....so now all the so called big clubs start sniffing around and who knows in the summer some daft money could be thrown about but if they invested that in proper scouting they may not have had to waste so much money.....

Don't they just p**s you off....obiangs the latest stating his client is interested in a move back to Italy(Napoli) and in the same breath claiming he is very happy in London playing for a side fighting at the top of the table....yeah its all about him trying to get his client a better deal and he has to be seen to be doing something to justify his fee but personally and of course it wont happen but I would like the club to call the player and agent in and call his/there bluff by saying something like we understand you want a move back to Italy and we wont stand in your way if we get a £10million fee for you your wages we cannot increase as you only signed the deal at the start of this season so we will let you go for the transfer fee we just quoted and because we do not want to upset the harmony of the squad we have spoken to the manager and he thinks it wise you go train with the development squad away from the first team.. thank you for your efforts this season hope the future goes well with you.....then lets see what he says to his agent!

Antonio Settles In

When I joined this site late last year, I started a discussion about Antonio and how much I wanted to see him get some game time, so I thought I'd follow it up with another thread.
Since he got his break into first team action due to Moses's injury, he has improved with each and every game. Puts in a great shift and works tirelessly. He has gained confidence and he is now showing why we paid £7 mill for him. Yes, he steams in, yes he loses control of the ball occasionally, but he is a big man and scares the opposition with his pace and power. He's become a very important member of the team now in my opinion and Mr Moses will find it very hard to dislodge him. He has steppeed up and grabbed his opportunity with both hands and deserves as much praise as Dimitri. We all adore Dimitri and I'm pretty sure it wont be long before we all adore Antonio as well. Another gem from the Championship, they are there and if we can get Byram in from Leeds, I'm sure he'll be another.

Disgusted last night, ashamed to be a hammer. But then I suppose I'm too old

I got a confession to make. During the game last night I was flicking from this forum, bbc, the official site and one other fans forum, in a vain bid for more information. By half time I flick on the fans forum to get a better idea how we were playing. I was ashamed to say over three quarters of the fans were abusive to the team in such an extreme, needless and uncontructive way I had to come off the web in shock. Luckily my son texted the Payet goal which made me switch on again. Call themselves fans? Just abusive morons. Yes ok it may have been bad, but if that's their response go and support someone else. One or 2 had suggested we were against a strong win, would it not have been fair to the team to suggest Bournemouth may suffer in the same way we did in the second half? Every single player in that first have was abused on that site just for the sake of it. If you are gona critise a players performance or ability at least raise a constructive argument. Knuckle draggers. Wish these idiots didn't attach themselves to my club.
